Actually, I was inside one of the Great Pyramids in 1978. No lie. Also, one of the great disappointments of the trip.

Bend over at the waist, basically crawl up a tunnel about 4' wide, get to the top, and the only thing in the "tomb" was a concrete-like hole where the sarcophagus once lay. Nothing on the walls, and it was lit by a 60W light bulb hanging from an piece of electric wire above the ceiling.

All of the stuff had either been stolen or preserved in the Cairo museum.

Funny you mention that. I literally was watching a video on that. It showed the complete and utter chaos involved with it.
