Yep but at the same time still doesn't change the fact we don't have a QB and will be looking for 1 again next year

They were going to be looking for a QB anyhow. Nothing has changed. Even if they didn't sign him who were they going to get in this years draft to be QB for the next 12 years?

I think they will get at least 25 passing TDs and 5 rushing TDs this coming year if he doesn't get hurt. That is 9 more passing TDs than they got this past year.

Does the Fitz signing mean that this thread has officially come to an end or is it realistic to think that Washington is not yet done in their goal to settle the stated "number one priority during this off-season?"

"calculating and aggressive" the coach said. I'm still waiting...

This, (signing Fitz) was a calculated move and one that I believe will lead to Washington finally settling their decades long QB issue. I'm sticking to my earlier prediction that Fitz won't take a snap in D.C.

I honestly believe that there is interest in Darnold, just not to the degree that some believe it to be. If, and that's a gigantic IF, Darnold is traded, he'll go to Chicago for a lot less than what's being asked by the NYJ's. My own belief is that he will either be retained or released and I'm leaning heavily towards the Jets retaining him and drafting their guy in the upcoming draft.

What happens with him after the draft, I'm still considering, but I believe that the smart thing to do from the Jets perspective is to hold onto him, see what they have in the new draftee and either start or sit the new guy accordingly. If the new draftee comes in and wows them, Darnold will then get traded, if there's a bit of work to be done with the new guy, Darnold is retained to mentor and begin, perhaps finish the season until the youngster is inserted at some point.

I would argue the best thing the NYJ could do is draft their guy at 2, or trade down a couple of spots and draft their guy there, start Darnold and pray he lights it up or maybe becomes middle of the pack, then trade him next season.

I stand by what I said to Deanpet - there is no way a team is trading a second rounder for darnold, and I wouldnt trade a third rounder for him.

The cost doesnt match the potential upgrade of signing Darnold versus signing any less expensive free agent option.

gekoka has it right: the jets should draft a qb, play darnold, and hope he plays well, then trade him.

Not much of an argument, when there's so much agreement between your post and mine.

I read a report that there were 8 teams interested in Darnold. I dont think we will be one b/c of the Fitz signing but you never know. IS the bet you dont think Darnold will go for a 2nd or a 3rd?

Lots of people can make throws, a lot fewer can make quick and proper decisions.
