I think it might have been a necessary evil for the Tigers at best.You give no weight to the fact the trade clears up positional logjams and fills needs on both sides?
BOTH keystone positions are DEFENSE FIRST positions so Detroit should count any offense they get from Kinsler and Iglesias as gravy.
Offhand I'd call the Tigers the winners in this deal.

And that is why I think its a necessary evil. Always lock up starting pitching. But the Rangers are in a really good spot right now, imo.its more than salary dumping
it lets them respend that money elsewhere
like keeping scherzer and locking up miggy who can walk in two years
