You have to remember his dad is the reason why he turned out to be a professional piece of shit. Those influences are instrumental in how kids turn out most of the time.

Kids can be pretty resilient. Her general constitution will drive her life more than any of this. If my dad did this back in the 1960s, I'm pretty sure it would be more of a conversation starter by my teens than some cloud over my entire life.

Not really true. As per the article above - his actual dad was a decent guy & did what he could to keep his sons out of trouble. However - his dad died suddenly when Hernandez was 16 & his mom brought in her POS boyfriend (whom she already had an affair with) & he had all types of bad & criminal habits.
