Funny....to anyone?.....no just the 2 nerd stat guys who come into a AL CENTRAL SMACK TALK THREAD that us central fans have been doing for 5-6 yrs now and post stats alot of us could care less about to tell us why the tigers are so bad....even tho they are in first....and dont even have a dog in the central race....why not stay in your al east room with all that talk...this room was supposed to be for smack talk of the ALC fans....

Iffy, capteditobvious, dabums( he hates me, i have no problem with him, hes a royal fan talking shit in a smack forum), CSD, and the 2 nerd guys....cant think of any other posters ive really had problems with..........outside of being called negative sometimes on the lions and tigers boards sometimes...hell vice even hates me now....

But i could care less....us cbs leftovers started this thread and it sure isnt what it was before....ive noticed most of them havent been around, so ill leave the thread to bums and the 2 stat nerd guys...change the name to something else cuz its sure not a smack talk thread anymore....500 DIFFERENT MLB STATS FOR NERDS should be new name of room...

See all u tiger fans in the room....and hockey, nos, and moose....ill see you around.....maybe once the tigers get a huge lead, this room will go back to just central fans talking smack.....fucking mike trout isnt even in the central...

Going by this post, I'm guessing the 2000 in your name is the year you were born. You sure as fuck sound like a little kid.

Haha gotta reply to this tho.....first in the AL CENTRAL.....YUP.....last time i checked......THIS WAS AN AL CENTRAL SMACK TALK THREAD......

Might of been the worst division in your eyes....funny we beat the yankees, the A's a few times in the playoffs tho....3 straight ALCS....not bad for winning the D division in softball.....wonder how that made the yanks and A's feel...

Yeah tigers got weaknesses....i agree....have stated it a million times.....bullpen....i used to think a clear number 5 hitter...but JD is hot....ive already said we got 5 mediocre OF's.....the bullpen again.....SS was a concern....im happy so far with suarez....did i mention bullpen....hell i predicted vmart would hit between 10-15 HR's and miggy would be walked a ton and vmart would set a record for DP's.

Those were some stellar lineups the A's and Yankee's had, what .230 team batting average for the A's for the year. The Tigers haven't done well when going against actual great teams aka more complete teams. Hell the OF looks better than it has in years with Davis over Dirks and JD looking like Hunter, Jackkkkkson is Jackkkkkson.

like it or not SS was already going to be weak with Igleses, so no big deal there, that was the plan, same with Avila at C. They upgraded 2b as much they down graded SS offensively, a push. I have no idea or get why a team that spends so much money won't spend much on the bullpen after years of it being a problem. Its such a small amount compared to all the other positions, hell get 2 or 3 8th inning studs and let them have a shot at closing, no need to spend tons on an established closer. I could easily listed 10 before the season and another 10 now. Spending money on a 40 yr closer is something foolish the Yankees would do, except they seem to be able to devolop those closer/bullpen pitchers. Verlander's decline is also an issue, turning a blind eye and saying he is fine, best pitcher in the league, is definately living before the last 45 starts.

I would rather a team from the AL Central win the WS, preferrable the Royals but if not, still a team from the AL Central. It actually ticks me off that the Tigers have most of the pieces in place for years now but then not finish the deal. Its like they don't want to win a ring. Spend the extra bucks since they can't develop the extra pieces for the Pen and back up roles, its been what 5 years now of good play, the plan isn't working and they should have corrected it after year 2 or 3.

I would be saying the same about the Royals if they were playing at that level for that long, go for the Ring, stop being ok with AL Central title or winning 1 round of the playoffs, that would be fine for 1 maybe 2 years. Maybe they did and sold the farm back a few years ago and it just didn't work, hell I don't know. I just know it ticks me off they are actually close but don't take the final steps to give themselves a real shot.

The 2012 A's lineup come playoff time was a lot better than their overall stats suggest though. Their lineup was plain awful the first two months, but they had one of the best lineups in all of baseball from June onward. A's had the most runs scored in baseball in the 2nd half of 2012 and were 6th in OPS. They batted .225/.301/.365 (90 OPS+) in the 1st half. They batted .252/.320/.445 (104 OPS+) in the 2nd. So I don't really consider their overall stats to be reflective of what kind of lineup they fielded come October.

There were a variety of factors in the A's improvement offensively, such as:

Cespedes returning from the DL in June
Chris Carter's promotion (he had a 139 OPS+ in 67 games in 2012)
Brandon Moss call-up (he's emerged as one of the better hitters in baseball)
Josh Donaldson (struggled badly, got demoted, then put up a .290/.356/.489 line in the 2nd half; he's now arguably the best 3B in baseball)
Coco Crisp (struggled, hit the DL in May, returned in mid May and batted .271/.336/.454 with 35 stolen bases over the remainder of the season)

The A's were sitting at 26-35 on June 10, 9 games back of the Rangers. The A's are 203-125 since then.

Well, not in June:

WRC+ by month-

April: 47
May:91
June: 139

Season: 90
I don't know what that stat means. But I do know he has less homers, a lower OBP and a lower slugging percentage than the Tigers rookie shortstop. Billy hasn't even put his mitt on his hand in a game yet this year. He gets paid to hit.

A little trivia: Since last July 1st, which MLB starters have more Wins than Rick Porcello?

Also, if we're going to bring up BA, the 2010 Royals were 2nd in the AL in BA. They were 8th in OBP, 9th in SLG%, and 10th in runs scored.

wRC+ (weighted runs created, park and league adjusted) is a lot like OPS+. Weighted Runs Created is a lot like Bill James' Runs Created, but it's based on wOBA.

Butler's overall stat line is still pretty bad, but Moose's point is that Butler's stats have been improving. About a month ago (May 28), Butler's stat line was .235/.294/.299. It's sitting at .280/.330/.360.

Had a feeling that was the case lol.

I remembered Porcello had a pretty bad start to the 2013 season and pitched well down the stretch, but I forgot about this beatdown:

September 4, 2013 Detroit Tigers at Boston Red Sox Box Score and Play by Play - Baseball-Reference.com

Red Sox had scored 54 runs over a 4 game stretch (including 34 runs in 3 games against the Yankees).

I tried to forget about that one. The Angels start early in the year last season is even harder to forget. That's been the deal with Ricky over the years. Solid, solid, solid.... 8 runs in 2.1, solid, solid..... Hoping he's finally leaving those awful starts behind him. (I believe Wainwright and Greinke also have 19 wins over the span. Scherzer might be able to tie them if his team can score some stinking runs!)

Didn't Max have the highest run support of any pitcher in the league last year?

Torii Hunter should retire.
every time the Tigers get some thing going....he comes up to the plate. always swinging at the first pitch. always grounding out to kill a inning. he sucks!

He might have, idk. But I think Vargas, Shields, Kluber and Phil Hughes all have better run support than he does this year.
