I was screaming at Ausmus to get Avila off the bases, then I was just screaming. Didn't see that coming. (Tigers do love hitting walk offs at Comerica off Oaklands closers.)

Ha ha, yep. This time on the night the team celebrated the '84 team's 30th anniversary. Coincidentally, the last walk-off grand slam for the Tigers was off the bat of Carlos Pena in 2004 -- on the weekend of the '84 team's 20th anniversary. The last one before that was by Lou Whitaker in 1994 -- 10 years after '84.

Damn, I was going to walk over and get a ticket on the street yesterday but decided it was too hot & muggy and headed home. Should've gone. Watching I was just hoping he'd keep the inning alive to get to Kinsler & Miggy.

Looks like this is when the Twins will begin slipping away from the rest of the division. 90+ loses four years in a row, gettin' kinda tired of this!

One of my favorite games ever was a rainy Sunday at Comerica. There were about 5,000 of us in attendance. (Before everyone left in the third)Your Twins AA team (essentially) was facing what could have been the worst team ever. But Dimitri Young wasn't having any of it. The Tigers could have won every game in September in '03 and still lost 95. Three years later they were in the WS. Minny will be fine. (Nolasco got my memo tonight. "Stop Sucking Balls Moneybags!")

Clemons yes, Porcello no. He is not a strike out pitcher by no means.

Yeah, Rick's career high in Ks was 142 (last year). Prior to that, it was 107. He has 62 this year at the mid-way point. But there were few balls squared up on Porcello last night, and he had tons of first-pitch strikes with no walks. 17 ground ball outs. Hitting that heavy sinker must have felt like hitting the rosin bag.

Strangely, Anibal only had 2 Ks the night before. I thought the A's hitters used to strike out a lot.

LOL at Torii Hunter's post-game quote, after he did not have a single putout in right field: "To be honest, it was pretty boring out there."

The last time a Tiger pitcher threw a CG shutout with fewer than 100 pitches: Armando Gallaraga's 28-out perfect game in 2010. (I will NEVER refer to that game as a "one-hitter".)

Tigers have looked real good lately. A's ran into 'em at the wrong time. Doesn't help they threw Jim Johnson out there when Chavez was in trouble. Game was over the second he stepped on the mound.

It's good to see Verlander's looked better as of late.
