I think the coaching staff has some kinda plan with whats in the building. I am just at just wait & see how that turns out at the moment. (LB & DT)
a dog is sitting on a tiled floor in a kitchen .
a cartoon cat is standing in a hallway looking at something .

knowing I may have to wait until next year to attack the middle of the defense (if things dont turn out)
I'm good waiting on LBer for sure as well. We mostly will play two LBers most of the time. Overshown has one spot locked up assuming he gets healthy eventually. That means we have Liufau, Sanborn and Murray and then long shots of the rookie (probably a STs guy this year), Buddy Johnson and Clark. All of those guys are fighting for one and a half spots next to Overshown. Liufau is the favorite after last year but it's no guarantee as he hasn't shown too much more than the potential to be a starter so far, Murray wasn't great but he was at least a starter and Sanborn played that exact #3 role in this exact defense. Plus there is still an outside shot (not likely but possible) that if EZ proves to be a star this year or next, that he starts on the weak side and Micah plays some LBer on early downs. It doesn't seem like that is likely to ever happen again with Micah, but it wouldn't be the worst idea after seeing him tire late in the season every year.

DT obviously is a little more of a wing and a prayer approach this season and I think they are still looking there, No chance these coaches are going to just settle with what they currently have if they think they can improve the team unless Jerry cuts off the purse strings. But you can't solve every problem in one off-season when you are a 7 win team that at the halfway point of the season looked more like a 5 or max 6 win team.

Honestly, I have no problem with not signing anyone else and rolling with what they have. This coaching staff has been impressive so far. As I said before the draft, go back to BPA instead of need and within a couple of years we can be back to where we want to be. At least they should know without question going into next year exactly where we are at DT, LT and RB. We aren't winning a Super Bowl thos year, but after last seasons detour, it feels like we are back on the path to competing for one
exactly. It was impossible to fix everything in one year.
dont force something & waste just throwing shit at the walls.
I feel like unless something(or someone) just showed up in our lap. We are where we are as far as personnel.
now unless a diamond in the rough pops up this year. If we dont go after DT & MLB next year. I will lose my shit LOL

I'll tell you what though.
I cant put a finger on it. But it feels like a different vibe right now than in the past.
I mean it could be because we didnt retread, but I know we arent good enough yet. but I just have a good feeling about this leadership this year. & no. I dont have a real good reason to point at. I just do.

I see Sanborn being very useful.

Absolutely. If we have things down to 3-4 holes next year instead of 9-10, we will be in business

I think a big part of it was also how crappy we were last year. Every year other than this year the February thought process was win and the division and advance the next season or it will be a failure. This upcoming year I think all sane fans know there is likely no SB coming our way and even winning the division would be a big upset. It's all about just get better and get the ship pointed in the right direction and I think we all see that has happened...well on paper at least. And if we can keep Dak upright for the full year with better OL play, who knows...:hope:

This is one thing the National Media will screw up, as usual. They think Cowboys fans will lose their minds if we don't win a Super Bowl. It's just not true. I think all we really want is to know that we have the ship really headed in a direction that gives us a chance to. The new staff has brought that so far

I hate that narrative. I hear the media national and local here east always say that about Cowboy fans. I don't know any Cowboy fans who say we are going to the Superbowl every year since 96. I have had some off seasons where we seemed to have better chances to go, but It has been a long long time since I had Superbowl thoughts.

Yep. Maybe 3-4 times i thought we had a legitimate chance in the last 30 years. Last time was a couple of years ago and I have to admit, I never saw Green Bay shelacking us at home. Im still shell shocked by that one

Something the new staff has over the old one in my opinion...inserting Booker at starting RG from day one. I thought it was absurd when they started Beebe and even Tyler Smith (LOL) as a backup for the first month. You drafted them to start, get them ready. Booker has to be ready for the Eagles DT's in a few months. I like not wasting reos

I am now permanently gun shy on any playoff game. Even if we are favored by 50. That Green Bay game could not have been more shocking.

Totally agree. There are a some annoying fans that go around saying that every year (like with most fan bases) and of course our idiot owner does it as well and we all get dragged into it. I always said the worst part of being a Cowboy fan is some of the other Cowboy fans.

Cowboy fans have nothing on Eagle Fans. After a 50 years of hearing them say Cowboys suck and the Eagles are going to win the Superbowl, I thought never in my life would they win one. Those fans deserve to stay miserable. Fate should never have let them win any. LOL
