Dude
Tom Brady's missing jersey. Has anyone checked doug's trailer?
He's a catcher. He was also banged up in 2015. Given how well he hit before that (.297/.359/.472 from 2012-14), I'm willing to give him a pass for 2015. Especially when he bounced back with a very good 2016.
Position played has no bearing on impact to a lineup imo. That's one way to see it.
More accurately, I see a catcher who has slashed .288/.355/.458/.812/119 over the last three seasons and in doing so, dwarfed his positional peers, as a difference maker in a lineup.
So you do consider Lucroy a difference maker in a lineup?A catcher that's generally been a better hitter than the average 1B is certainly a difference maker if you ask me. And among the 8 catchers that hit 20+ home runs in 2016, only one had a higher OBP than Lucroy (Sanchez), and he didn't have nearly enough PA to qualify.
Position played has no bearing on impact to a lineup imo.
I like to keep it interesting.
That's an interesting perspective, Smitty.
And I don't know what difference it makes where someone plays in the field, when a guy is batting.
We have 112 posts to go.In that vacuum, I agree with you, it doesn't matter. Where it matters is roster construction, which greatly impacts a team's lineup.
Every team has to have a catcher. If the average catcher sucks at hitting, but there's one catcher who hits very well, that guy is more valuable than a first baseman with identical stats because the average first baseman doesn't suck at hitting.
I'm of the opinion that you've heard all this before and just don't buy it, which is fine. I don't want to belabor it, though.
Miami Marlins to be sold???? Handshake agreement. I was wondering what Vice was up to. He probably pulled in some of that South American money he talked about.
And Marlins Stadium is owned by the county.Allegedly, the deal is for $1.6 Billion, with a "B." Holy shit. The Dodgers and their massive TV deal "only" sold for $2 billion just five years ago. Either the Dodgers were sold for a song, the perspective Marlins' buyer is about to get bent over the desk, or teams are worth a fuckload more than they were five years ago. Or, some combination of the three.
Another staggering thing, Loria bought the Marlins in 2002 for $158MM. If this sale goes through, that's a 913% return on his investment in 15 years, and that's not accounting for any profits he's made in the interim.
Holy shit. Nice work if you can get it.
And Marlins Stadium is owned by the county.
Crazy money.
Is that right?
If that's the case, I think black frank is making a reasonable claim when he suggests this is just Loria floating a sale price out there to see if anyone wants to bite.
According to Wikipedia Miami-Dade County is the owner. Is that right?

Allow me to pile in, hurr.My prediction for 2017...
The Twins & ChiSux will suck but just a smidge less...
Hey @SlinkyRedfoot you may know the answer to this. I'm needing to buy about 10-12 Right Field District tickets for a game in June. Any idea when these go on sale?
Hell yes it is. I used to buy the cheapest seats I could and hope for a spot on the rail on the HR Porch, but the RF District will be my permanent home any time I go to a game. Plus I can dig $13 tickets to see the defending AL Champs.Single game tix on sale March 6th @ 10am.
That is a cool way to see a game.
