The Indians Are Reshaping How We Think About Relievers – The Ringer
Indians do seem to be getting better usage out of Miller than the Cubs have with Chapman.
Hawk Talks: The eternal competition between ... Kris Bryant...
Todd Frazier, he of the 102 OPS+ and sub-.300 OBP, is better than Kris Bryant.
Some believe that home runs are largely out of the pitcher's control (hence, xFIP)If Verlander was allowing home runs at his career average (0.8/9) instead of a career-high 1.2/9, I think he'd be in the top three for CY. His ERA would be under 3.00, I'm pretty sure. And all his other key numbers this season are among the best seasons of his career. The damn long bombs have killed him.

Interestingly, JV's worst season for HR allowed before this year was his MVP season ( 24 allowed in 2011).

Lol. Good post. Lol. Good post
Verlander's also giving up harder contact than he has throughout his career. His 28.9% hard contact rate would be his highest since 2007 (32%). His HR/FB rate (10.8%, which still isn't very high) is above his career norm (8%), but he's also sporting the highest flyball rate of his career (47.4%; it was 45.5% last year too).
Most of that has to do with throwing so many innings.. his 251 IP is a career high. His HR/9 was only 0.86.
Hey iffy,
How much are rooting for Danny Duffy tonight?
I said it would be obvious the indians were spiraling down by September 2.I was told by "The Predictor" to watch for a Marlin victory over Cleveland as this will foretell of the Great Downward Spiral that has been predicted since.....????
PS...I believe it has been also foretold that a "Breaking One Off" on KC would conversely create a corresponding Upward Spiral for Detroit?
