The improvement shown by guys like Trevor Bauer (25) and Salazar (26) at least gives me hope for the two 23-year olds in the Tiger rotation (Fulmer and Norris).
I'll pass on the Bauer comparison.

Unless were comparing Boyd. Cuz I don't gots the time to wait for an ERA that isn't in the Sanchez range from Norris.

Just saying- if all the Royals did after 2014 was show up and get a participation ribbon- it would have been positively the most charlie brown-like tease I can think of as a fan.
If Moore hadn't been willing to deal Finnegan, who knows.

What happened to Cain? I just heard he hit the DL.

Wait. You're saying you wouldn't want one of the Tigers' young pitchers to progress like Bauer?

Norris is at a 3.94 ERA in a small MLB sample (78 innings). Not even thinking about Boyd. He's already 25 and is WAAAAYYYY behind where Bauer was at ages 23-24. Just saying Bauer and Salazar made a noticeable leap in their age 25 seasons (Salazar last year and Bauer this year). Hell yes, I'd rather NOT wait for a guy like Norris to be a reliable starter, but he's clearly still learning.

Bauer is 6-2 with a 3.19 ERA.
Salazar is 10-3 with a 2.22 ERA.

If both Norris and Fulmer are putting up numbers like that when they are 25, I'll be a happy camper. I can only guess that Smitty wants them to be pitching like that sooner. Well, of course, I would too. Just being realistic.

Fulmer actually IS pitching like that right now, but the sample is too small. We'll see where it goes this year. He is also on an innings limit (150-160).

Through next year. I think they're going to trade Moustakas if they get an offer that isn't a rip in December for some pitching.
You know, eyeball test, I don't like Cuthbert. But it seems he's doing well. And Moose should be able to fetch something, somewhere. It's gotta hurt his value a little with missing most of this year. But I wouldn't think too much since it's not his arm or his back.

That'll be a weird day if he does get dealt.

It's a neccessary risk given payroll restraints. Cuthbert is cheap for 5 more years- Moose has 1 not entirely cheap year left. Cuthbert is on pace for that 2 WAR/150 mark so it it's worthy question to ask.

Norris had cancer and started the season hurt. I didn't expect more from him up to this point in the season.

It's July 1st right now. And Bauer is set to start tomorrow at Toronto with an ERA of 3.19. On June 1st, as Bauer was getting ready to make his first start on the month, his ERA was 4.34. He's had a nice little 5-6 start run lately. Especially the Ks. But I don't really see Norris development being behind. They're two years and change apart in age. And Bauer still needs to cut down on his walks imo. (He already has cut down a great deal.)Led the league last year and he's gonna go over 60 again this year. If he gets slapped around on the road tomorrow, he's back to looking okay other than impressive.

Norris had 16 MLB starts at 22. Bauer had 8. Thru age 23 Bauer had 34 and Norris is sitting at 18 with half a season to go. I'm fine with where he's at up to this point. Considering the cancer n all.

Id rather have Fulmer and/or Norris than Bauer tbh. He'd be a 4-5 starter for us right now too imo. And I don't really hope to see Boyd back back in the rotation any time soon.

Can I ask what that 2WAR/150 mark means?
In a typical season accounting for offdays- Cuthbert is roughly an average-slightly above average 3B in his career. So far that's really the only position he could play unless he shows more offense going forward. Though he could DH vs Lefties I suppose.

When he retires, no athlete will ever have been paid more in salary.

I'm serious. Dude was born at the right time. Or came out the right year AND was born at the right time. (To pass for a lot of yards and get paid.)
