Love the deal for the Royals. Not too often you can lock up a 25 year old catcher for a hair over 10 million AAV who will likely produce 2-3 wins every year
Show me a 31 year old catcher worth 13 mil a year... There aren't many.

we owe VMart 50+ still don't we?

And we're paying part of Fielders salary to play for Texas.

I don't have much faith in Victor unless he's roiding again. Which would be sweet.
2016-2018 for vmart... 48 mil....
Fielder's contract goes through 2020 season.. and has 125 mil left on it.

1. Deals are a measuring of costs vs. gain. I think Perez's defense is good enough to justify his contract for the first three or four years, and if a result of that is having to have him underperform in his later years, it might be worth it. Remember, thirteen million dollars in 2021 is not the same as thirteen million dollars in 2016.
2. Just looking at last year, Brian McCann, Russell Martin, and Stephen Vogt (30).

@broncosmitty Barry Bonds hitting coach in Miami... Stanton might weight 340 next year and all muscle.

Stanton another one... He is like 250

Royals had to do it... Perez deserved the reward. I understand why they did it and commend them for doing it when they didn't have to... but truth be told... It isn't going to be good for the Royals in 3 or 4 years from now when Ian Kennedy, Perez, and Gordon all have deals that are paying them more than they are worth. Those three combined are going to be like 53 mil in payroll right there.. Do you think those three are going to be worth 53 mil in 4 years?

I would agree Fielder's contract is worse, but let's not undermine how bad V-Mart was last season. My goodness

Egh.

I want to win. And I don't see Victor helping anymore.

Plus were on the hook for 20mil or whatever it is for Fielder to play elsewhere.

Id swap out VMart for a lot worse than Fielder and his deal at this point.

LOL.. Vmart and Fielder are on par with each other at the plate right now.. and an extra 70 million for the last 3 years of fat boy's career... Vmart easily could put up better stats than Fielder moving forward.

Yes, I would say that's entirely possible, maybe even conservative with how much money a win will be worth by that time

Hard to gain weight with your jaw wired shut. Lol

I love that Bonds is back in baseball. Best hitter I've ever seen, hands down, roids or no roids.

On par?

I don't think so.

Youre drunk on Old English D again.

Fair enough.
I wasn't really looking at WAR or it's value though. I was just saying that there is an average number of dollars teams typically pay for 1 Win, and that that value will (likely) only increase in the upcoming years

Easy to gain weight when your work out buddy is Bonds.

Victor is bout done.
Had a HR today left handed... I don't think he is done yet.. I don't have a ton of confidence for 2018... but I think he will have a decent year this year.
