I assume the Royals were aware that Nostradamus of the SportsHoopla boards has predicted, with 100% certainty, that Perez will be injured for a large part of 2016? I forget the reason why he will be injured, but big money (and a pulled pork sandwich from Jason's Deli) were bet that he would be!
I doubt Perez will even be a catcher in 3 years...

Going out on a limb, Vice? Predicting a catcher getting hurt? Now predicting something 3 years down the road? Damn...I don't think even bums will recall that prediction 3 years from now.

I predict that your local weather girl (you know, the one with the big cha cha's and tight skirts) will take off to NYC or LA as soon as her agent gets a call!!!!!

Its really not hard to predict... the guy takes a beating... few catchers that takes a beating like that lasts very long. It doesn't help he is huge and large catchers don't last long to start with because of the wear and tear on their knees.

The Royals did the right thing rewarding the guy.. and I commend that.. but guy is going to be getting paid a shit ton of money a year well past the point he will be able to play catcher. The Royals aren't doing themselves any favors for the long term health of the franchise with the contracts they are signing this offseason.

That goes for larger position players in general. You don't see too many hitters 240+ lbs remain healthy in their 30s.

I believe the Tigers tried to anchor the corners of their infield with 240 lb guys a couple of years ago.

I would say it went pretty well for them seeing as how they went to the WS that year.

You think it's been that many?

Maybe, idk.

Dunn
Miggy
Fielder
Trumbo
Papi
Big Mac
Billy Butler ?
Bonds ? He held up alright
Chris roids Davis
Brennan Boesch ?

Top of my head.

240 is pretty big for a non pitcher. Pretty much 1st or DH is all you're ever going to see someone that big in the first place. Does Sal weigh 240?

Id glady take Fielder back if somehow we could get away from Victor and his shitty contract.

Fielder doesn't get the credit he deserves as a hitter imo. He blows at first, but whatever.

They list Perez at 6'3'' 240

There have been OFers that go that big...

Delmon Young is 240
Nelson Cruz is right around there
Hosmer is like 230
Jose Abreau is like 260
Jason Heyward is like 250

Those are just a few off the top of my head around 240.

I'm offended you called Delmon an outfielder. Lol

Never would have guessed Heyward was that big.

Hosmer is a helluvan athlete. He'll be a big fella in his 30's.

Love the deal for the Royals. Not too often you can lock up a 25 year old catcher for a hair over 10 million AAV who will likely produce 2-3 wins every year

I wouldn't trade Fielder's contract for Victor's... Your nuts. Fielder has like 3 years and 70 mil more.

we owe VMart 50+ still don't we?

And we're paying part of Fielders salary to play for Texas.

I don't have much faith in Victor unless he's roiding again. Which would be sweet.
