All that money spent on guitar and you don't even understand how it works? Maybe you should brush up on some theory.

Just as soon as you show me a 5 minute video of yourself playing 240 bpm 8th note power chord progressions in standard tuning....

What part of Florida are you in, Aggie? I'm moving to Eglin AFB early next year, could use a jammin buddy.

College Station, TX, sir. I go home to satellite beach on the barrier island during breaks (winter/spring/summer). Although I doubt eglin is anywhere near there, since satellite has its own AFB. :spy:

Yeah that's really far away, I'll be up in the panhandle, closer to Mobile.

So what is your point here? You've just been arguing for the sake of making an ass out of yourself. Metal all sounds the same, and it's because they use the same chord progressions and work out of the same tired old scales. If you like that, then have fun with it. If not, then join the club. The only thing you shouldn't do is put down people's tastes when you have not even and outside idea of what you're talking about.

BTW You said you had 6 guitars, what are they, what hardware is in them, how are they tuned, what kind of amp(s) do you have, how do you line up your pedal chain (since you're a metal fan), and lastly, what amp settings do you use?

LOL, :L

There are some mainstream metal bands I do listen to... I am not referring to Disturbed and anything you would hear on Clearwater radio. To say that sub-genres in metal mean nothing is ridiculous. Power metal is drastically different than Death metal. Doom metal is drastically different from Thrash metal. And there are so many metal bands that do play in a comfort zone and play almost everything in the key of E. But there are also many bands, real metal bands, quality metal bands, that play with creativity and technicality better than anything out there.

Listen to Necrophagist, Cryptopsy, Opeth, Cynic and Death.

I got Cephalic Carnage going at work right now... Fucking awesome band. You will take a listen and say, oh well just playing fast does not make you good. Technical death metal is very fucking hard to play.

A lot of genres are the same though...example, sludge/ stoner/doom metal are all the same thing really. And most bands pick like 3 genres to describe their sound. When I see shit like "metalcore, melodic death metal, mathcore" it gets pretty silly. The worst one of all is bands that label themselves progressive.

I love Tool, but I still have a hard time getting into everything they do. When they get it "right" (IMO only), it is absolute perfection, and they get it right a good percentage of the time.

Tool was like a gateway band for me...they were the band that made me open my mind a little bit, andat first i thought they were really creative. Now theyre kind of boring to me. I still like them, although 10,000 days was a huge letdown. I think A Perfect Circle is the more creative band.
