Meh, Huff did OK. Pitched 2.2 in Coors and gave up 1 ER. Pitchers did their job tonight.

That's the 20,000 foot view.

Another take:

Huff retired 8 batters, allowed 6 base runners. WHIP of 2.25 -- NOT good.

Huddy retired 9 batters, allowed 8 base runners. WHIP of 2.68 -- NOT good.

Depends upon how fine grained you want to be. I'd bet good money neither pitcher would say he "did his job."

Tarp is off the field. Despite the fact that Giants have a game at home tomorrow and Rockies have a game in Atlanta tomorrow, this will continue

This game has been officially suspended, right?

So how, exactly does this work?

When the game resumes (in September?) do the Rox take over with a runner on 1st, or does the inning start over?

Is Hudson available to pitch in the remainder of the game?

What happens if Cuddyer is hurt or traded between now and then? Will the Rox have to burn a player to insert a pinch runner? If not, couldn't they just put their leadoff guy on base?

Suspended with runner on first. 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th. I would think if Cuddyer is traded or hurt then a pitcher or someone not playing regularly would run for him. The question I have is the rosters expand to 40 on Sept. 1st. Do they play to end this game with 25 or 40?

It will resume on Sept. 1 with a runner on first, two outs. Hudson, JDLR will not be available (though we will have 40-man roster).

The "what if they trade Cuddyer" blew my mind

Take it one step further...

What if Cuddyer is traded to the Giants between now and then?

Or better yet, Huff is with the Rox at the time. Cuddyer comes around to score, and Huff comes in for the Rox to pitch the rest if the game. Since the SP did not go 5 IP, the win goes to scorers choice, and Huff gets both the W, L, S and BS all in the same game.

From that game:

Situation:

-David Huff was on the mound with two outs in the 6th, game tied at 2
-Michael Cuddyer on first
-Troy Tulowitzki at bat
-Tyler Colvin in left
-Brandon Hicks at second
-Rockies catcher was Wilin Rosario
-Nick Masset was pitching, but Rockies PH for him in the sixth

Players unavailable from that day:
Rockies: Tulowitzki, Cuddyer, JDLR, Rosario, Kahnle, Masset
Giants: David Huff, Tyler Colvin, Brandon Hicks, Tim Hudson

Ironically enough, Hudson was starting that day in May. Only went three innings though. Hudson is starting the full game today

Giants and Rox are allowed to replace all of those players with anyone from the Aug 31 roster. September call ups are not allowed until the second game.

Edit: Per Schulman, call ups are eligible to play first game.

And if Pence hits a home run, he will have hit his 5th and 19th home run of the season in this game.

Some stats for this game:

Giants with 2 FPOMs, 3 GIDPs, 6 Ks.
Giants with 3 singles, one double, one HR

Panda/Panik/Stamos to lead off the 7th. The likely revised lineup:

Oxy/Herk/MVP/P/Panda/Panik/Stamos/Shark/Ishi.

Is this already the longest game in MLB history? And we are only in the 7th.

The league offices really need to do something about the pace of these games. Sheesh.
