The rumors at the time was, prior to spring training, the Giants wanted someone as depth, then it was someone to compete with Luciano for the starting spot. The thinking was that it would be easier to move someone else from shortstop than Crawford if/when Luciano was ready.

That's what I heard too. Luciano clearly was not ready though in the field or at the plate

This one could have been fun, watching the Giants grind out long ABs vs. Lopez, but sadly the rook started throwing up meatballs and we're down two. And verses a good pitching team on the road (where we suck) that's probably enough.

He’s had a lot of those. Take out the ridiculous game he came in with a 10 run lead or whatever and his numbers are pretty good
