Wow, when we play the Rags twice more this season, that should be an automatic four points. They've shipped out McDonagh, Nash and Grabner. Tampa is definitely all-in for the Cup now too. They probably gave up a lot for McD.

Flyers call up Read (and send Lindblom down to make him AHL playoff eligible). I kind of expect Read to take his place in the lineup tonight as a reward for working hard this season with the Phantoms. Then Lindblom gets called back up tomorrow. My guess is Read will get sent back down after that.

Would be nice to see him on the 4th line and PK'ing though instead of Weiss.

Read and Vecchione same type of player. Do you think he ever gets the call to the big leagues.

That's a pretty big haul for those guys. Howden is one of the more highly regarded prospects outside the NHL right now I think.

I was referring more a year for experience. I think he competes for a spot next year. I think he has way more upside than Read.

I think he will eventually. I bet he'd rather be on another roster these days though. Other teams he'd probably be in the NHL, but the Flyers have some pretty good C depth, especially if you count Lehtera, Giroux, and Read who have played center in their career but aren't right now.

RFA at the end of the year, I'll be curious to see what happens with him.

I think it's a lot to give up for just 1.25 years of McD, but they are trying to win it all both years.

I think it's a pretty formidable group if Konecny, Patrick and Lindblom continue to progress and we get Simmonds back 100% healthy, probably in place of Weise. We will then have the issue of how to structure the lines and the top power play unit, but that will be a fabulous problem to have. Lots of veteran leadership and depth that are not past their prime, with talented youth sprinkled in.

If I'm not mistaken, they even stated on a recent broadcast that we had the youngest team in the east. Hard to believe that based on our play for basically the last two months.

So, we're getting younger and we're getting better all at once. That's how you rebuild a team into a Cup contender. It will only continue as guys like Lehtera and Filppula leave and get replaced by younger, better players. The same for guys like Weise, Raffl and MacDonald later on too.
