Lol!! Finally some numbers that you can relate to since you're completely ignoring Frost and our other 1st round pick.
Maybe Simmonds Sanheim Meyers and 2019 number 1 might do it.Still wondering why Hextall wanted Detroit to keep half of Mrazek's salary. The Flyers could have easily afforded his cap hit. They currently have 7.25 mil in cap space.
My hypothetical revolves around Erik Karlsson. Lots of talk about him potentially being traded at the deadline. What if the Flyers are looking at him? Would you center a deal for Karlsson around Simmonds and Sanheim?
It would definitely improve our chances in any shootoutI don't know how up to date this list is, but Mrazek appears to be one of the best goalies in the Nhl at the shootout.
Career Goalie Shootout Save Percentage
Last season alone, he stopped 26 of 30 attempts, which is good for a .867 save percentage. That's very high.

That list is at least a few years old. It has Philly goalies listed as Mason and Emery...I don't know how up to date this list is, but Mrazek appears to be one of the best goalies in the Nhl at the shootout.

Not a chance in hell I would make that trade for just 1.25 years of Karlsson.
Ha. I just asked this very question the day we signed him how he was in shootouts? Thanks mav.I don't know how up to date this list is, but Mrazek appears to be one of the best goalies in the Nhl at the shootout.

Well that's the thing. How confident are you that you can re-sign him? And how much do you think he earns in the next contract? He could easily turn into a 10+ mil contract in a couple years and is that something you want with the other guys coming up?
Just thought it was interesting to think about. Tavares is a similar situation IMO.
It is perplexing about the money though. I wonder what we will do with it.Still wondering why Hextall wanted Detroit to keep half of Mrazek's salary. The Flyers could have easily afforded his cap hit. They currently have 7.25 mil in cap space.

Will take a hell of alot more than that to get himStill wondering why Hextall wanted Detroit to keep half of Mrazek's salary. The Flyers could have easily afforded his cap hit. They currently have 7.25 mil in cap space.

Damn. I keep thinking about the thought of Tavares... Damn how nice would this addition be for the FLyers? I don't see how A) we can afford him long term or B) the amount of picks and prospects to get him from a division rival? My mouth is watering just from the thought of this..
Very interesting! There's definitely space for him long term. Filppula, Read, Lehtera, Weise, and MacDonald come off the books over the next 3 seasons. That's close to $20 million in space right there and the replacements for those guys will mostly be cheap, entry level contracts like Frost, Rubtsov, Lindblom and Myers.
I'm not sure if the Islanders would trade his rights, but if he won't re-sign, they will have no choice. They're in a difficult position because they are out of a playoff spot now and also have 9 players who will be UFA's this summer, including Tavares and Bailey. Those two will be looking for enormous raises and if they are both kept, it leaves holes all over their roster elsewhere and with a lot less money to fill them.
I'd rather give that money to Tavares than Karlsson. We're already positioned to be stacked on defense, but with Giroux at wing and Patrick still growing, we could definitely use another top center.
The Isles would never trade his rights to a division rival unless we traded them guys with with cheap ECL's like Frost, Rubstov, Lindblom Meyers so dont get your hopes too high. im not sure Hexy will be wiling to do that.Very interesting!
