New #Flyers goalie Petr Mrazek will serve as Alex Lyon’s backup tonight vs Montreal. Mrazek figures to start Thurs. vs visiting CBJ.
Makes sense he needs to get used to things and Lyon wasn't too bad last game. Overall I like the trade fair for both sides.

I'm not liking all of these injuries though this is nuts! Nice to see Lindblom get a chance hopefully he impresses...

We should be alright here. Weal can play any line and Lindblom is ready for the Nhl this time around. The defense doesn't change either.

I still don't want to have to start Lyon, but we should beat Montreal either way. They have lost 5 straight and aren't going anywhere. Price looked below average when we beat them earlier this month.

We need to move on from that last game though. Jesus, it was played like a fucking All-Star game. No defense at all. It probably should've been a 7-6 or 8-7 game in OT, but Lyon did step up in relief.

I think this will end up being a sneaky good trade for the Flyers. Mrazek probably isn't a longer-term answer, but I've followed him a bit since he was drafted and he's got the talent and I think he'll fill the gap well enough this year. Had a bad year last year and started slow this year, but his 5-on-5 numbers are pretty good this year even if his overall stats are so-so.

Another clutch win and two points. Basically, Jake Voracek saves us though with the game tying goal late and the OT winner.

That said, get Lyon out of there asap. Tired of watching him flop all over the crease and awkwardly lose pucks between his legs. We appreciate the effort, yes, but he's trying too hard. Mrazek will settle things down for us in net. 145 Nhl games started compared to 3 and these guys are about the same age...Lol

Our other problem in this game was that Price was locked in this time and we were either passing or shooting the puck wide on him too often.

Looking for a short and long term replacement for Simmonds on the top power play unit? Looks like we found it in Patrick. He looks right at home there too and our top unit has really never looked better.

Seems like Konecny got tossed in the doghouse by Hakstol late in this one, probably due to turnovers.

Konecny did block a shot that hurt him early, but I thought he finished the game. Hopefully we don't have another injury to one of our top six forwards.

Either way, we are 8 points ahead of the first two teams out of the playoffs and own the tiebreaker against them by a wide margin, so it's really a 9 point edge. That's a lot of breathing room to just make the playoffs.

The Devils lost tonight too in regulation, so we are 2 points clear of them with the tiebreaker also.

The Caps also lose to Tampa in regulation, so we're off and running here. Only 2 points back of Pitt with a game in hand and 3 points back of Washington.

Check it out.

Last five games:

B. Schenn: 1 goal 1 assist -4 (20+ minutes per game with top power play unit)

J. Lehtera: 1 goal 1 assist +1 (11 minutes per game on 3rd line)

One more point and we pass the Blues and their 1st round pick continues to get better for us. They may not even make the playoffs at this rate.

If Schenn is so good, why can't he successfully lead his team?

13-15-2 since December 10th.

We are 20-8-3 over the same stretch, including a 6-3 win over the Blues.

Dude...let the Schenn thing go. Everyone on the other side of that discussion has just let it die off.

I was very impressed with Linblom's size i didn't realize he was that big. we needed some size and showed some skill for his first game.

I think after last night performance by Lyon is Mrazek time.

This has to be a good trade as our goalies are dropping like flies.Even though he didn't play well last season he has got to be better than Lyon has showed so far.

Weal has been playing great hockey the last few weeks and im not glad that Simmer is hurt i am glad he got the promotion.
I liked Lindblom he has some size and skill which we need.

8 points ahead of the last wild card at this point is where we need to be. Do you know our percentage of making the playoffs at this point?

Hpw are his numbers for shootouts? That is important heading to the finish line. For some reason the Flyers love to give up late goals and losing in the shootout.
The way our shooters are we need to avoid late goals and shootouts at all cost even if we had Roy in net.

Neuvy has to be the most injured goaltender we have ever had. It makes you wonder why we signed him for 2 years.

Couts last few weeks is playing suffocating defense in the offensive zone. He probably had and caused about 5 takeaways per game in the opposing zone. This shuts down the opposing breakout and slows their offense to a scramble in their own end.
