Okoye has been praised ever since we picked him up. And frankly, I have never understood why. Great athlete, but he clearly does not know what he's doing on a football field. There's no way he makes this team. Not this year, not next year, not ever.

didn't want to say this too strongly last year, granted I "hinted" this. cause last year, ok trying him out. we all knew his effort is noble, but odds low. one year later he's still struggling in football drills, struggling to stay low. he's tall and not used to being low, no surprise. imagine an offensive linemen driving him back?

so all his 'freakish ability' is great, just not developed for football. the 49ers can only invest so much in him and there are other prospects with a legit chance to make the team (next season).

Yes it is but he hasn't practiced at least with the team since last offseason since he went onto IR. So he still is learning which is why a year of PS would be perfect for him IMO

it would be perfect if he was 'just on the brink' of making the team. is he?

if would be perfect if there were no other good prospects we'd like to 'keep'?

anyway, don't have to continue this posting. if this tid bit is anything close, Okoye will be an early cut.

LeBron James is a great athlete too. Let's throw him on the United States soccer team.

6'6, 305 lbs, with freakish athletic ability, where he excelled in, not 1, but 2 sports, learning the nuances of a position that you typically don't see immediate results. Also, in a position of need based on question marks of other unknown prospects. You name Dial, Lynch, or Ramsey but many of these guys are just as unproven as Okoye is, with FAR more experience, but I would question if any of those three had Okoye's athleticism. Because he was on IR last season, I believe he has two more years of eligibility on the PS and I see no reason why we can't look at his upside as reason enough to keep him for two years and see how he develops.

In this list are players who are hurt as well, so guys like Thomas and Millard will spend the season on IR, not affecting our PS numbers. Others are in positions of perceived organizational strengths, which historically has meant little to know chance on the PS for this 49er FO.

The freakishly athletic ex-Olympian has struggled in D-Line drills and goes 6-foot-6, which requires a ton of knee-bending on the defensive line.

After one year he is still struggling, and struggling with just drills. is this an indication "He has proven to be able to pick things up very quickly."?

how much more exposure would he need, one more year on the PS? after another year he'll be good enough to make the team? not just any team, but an NFL team, the SF 49ers who're stacked at DL.

so while we're mesmerized with his athletic ability, we cut someone who HAS exposure to the sport? cut someone like Lynch, Ramsey, or Dial? cut someone who could actually compete for a roster spot next season?

again, nothing against Okoye and nothing against him trying out, but EVERYOPNE knew the odds of him panning out.

I think it's incredibly unrealistic to expect the guy to learn a sport and be able to compete at the highest possible level in just one year.

Some friendly info on next season with Hola Better Internet (Chrome addon) you can make nfl.com think you are in another country and buy NFL Gampass (similar to Sunday Ticket) for 99 for one team. The games include preseason to the end of the regular season. Just wanted to let you guys know since it is what I plan on doing this year.

If this is true let me say it now Supreme, I LOVE YOU MAN!!

Being stuck in Seattle I only get the Seahawks games most of the time and they are like fingernails on a chalk board.

I'll keep you posted their is a free week trial but I haven't used it yet to verify it works but it should since I used something similar last year until the NFL shut it down (it was free last year). But I will let you know if it works when the 1st preseason game starts.

That would be cool. Many years ago when the GA dome opened I lived in Atlanta. They had a "roam the dome" event where you could go almost anywhere in the place. That was cool and I hate the Falcons. Fingers crossed for you.
