It would be so awful for college football if the Big 10, Big 12 and Pac-12 followed suit, but it's pretty obvious they need to because the ACC and SEC have a distinct advantage only playing 8 conference games vs 9

Ohio State is that one champion, and they also play an 8 game conference schedule

They play 9 games now, but played 8 games when they won.

Think they're pretty well saying the top 6 is all we need to pay attention to barring complete chaos. LSU already being eliminated and still being ahead of WSU, WVU and OSU is pretty telling.

Still can't fathom how people still want to argue for an 8 to 16 team playoff.

Here we are with a month left to play in the regular season and #1 and #2 have clearly separated themselves from everybody else. Hell, the gap between #1 and #2 is significant.

#5 got beat by 20-plus by a pretty average LSU team, and #6 fans laugh about how shitty of a defense they have.

7 through whatever simply doesn't matter this year and would get absolutely rolled in the playoffs.

Go with an 8 team playoff right now, and Bama would play Wazzu in the 1st round. Vegas would have that line at 20+ on a neutral field, and I don't see that game staying within 30.

There were 2 two loss teams in last weeks rankings that were ranked in the top 15 but took really bad losses this weekend. One lost by 4 to a 5 loss team, the other lost by 17 to a 5 loss team.

The team that lost by 4 dropped out, the team that lost by 17 only dropped 6 spots???????????

Like where is the logic here?

It seems like after the top 4 they throw darts at a board or something to decide how to rank the teams, there is little to no direction (especially outside of the top 10) so erratic week to week.

Not sure it speaks as much about Penn State as it does everybody else.

Who is better that is ranked below them? Washington is probably the only team below them that would be an equal or maybe favored on an neutral field.

8 teams would be perfect ... P5 Conference Champs ... and 3 at large teams ... if the season ended today and Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Oklahoma and Washington State were the Champs ... Notre Dame, Georgia and Central Florida would round out the Eight. Seems pretty fair.

I am hoping for a Michigan/Notre Dame rematch .... but that’s perfect world stuff. Indiana is next on the list ... no looking past anyone this year.
