Fletcher says he doesn't foresee any more trades in the next week and doesn't guarantee Ristolainen will be re-signed, but does say he could re-sign and could see him as a part of the future. But it sounds like they plan to wait and see before they commit.

I'm good with that, but maaaan. That's a lot to give up for a Ristolainen rental if that's how it goes.

Yes the D was terrible last year but this is a whole lot better no? To be honest it would have been great if Ghost and Myers turned out better because that wouldn't have cost them any picks but unfortunately they weren't good enough. I think we can all agree with this so this seemed to be the best that he could do under the circumstances. They have enough scoring fix the D and let's go!

We're definitely swinging for the fences a bit here. The starting six is far better defensively, but as you say, if Ristolainen walks after one season, that will be a massive bummer. Also, if we have injuries on defense next season, the depth is no longer there.

Are Ellis and Risto a step up from Ghost, Haag and Myers? Yes
Are they a 1st, two 2nds and a 3rd as well?

That is the net sum of the Flyers moves. Throw in Nolan Patrick for good measure.

Fletcher is trading to trade. I don't see the end game here other than on paper being able to say he made moves to get better. But did he really?

I am ready for the season and agree our defense is better but i am looking to win a cup. IMO this roster is not a cup favorite or even close.

I think you are being a little hard. Risto and Ellis are heads and tails better than those other guys as the potential never came through yet. You kept saying we overvalued them but now they are so good that the trades were lopsided? They could easily trade both of them for 1st rounders at the deadline or even more if the team doesn't come together and save cap so IMO this is not one of those horrible locked in forever trades. If Risto looks good early on which I think he will they can even try to resign him so that's not all lost. If Les Habs can get to the cup anyone can it's closer than you think especially with a fixed up D all of a sudden Hart will magically look better too just watch.

Who the F is this Hermann Munster character what the hell does he know? They gave up a bunch of spare parts and potential for two legit dmen. Even if they don't resign Risto they will have his cap money to sign someone else next year. They at least get to make that decision after seeing him in person instead of trading for a long contract and being stuck. The only other option was to basically do nothing and hope that Ghost and Myers turned out and we'd all be yelling half way through the season. Even Hagg went a little sideways I'd rather see York get some ice.

I’ve decided I like it. If not now, when we’re they going to shoot their shot? Fletcher is all in with this group and doing everything he can with it. He made the major changes to the “mix” we asked for and If it doesn’t look good, start blowing it to smithereens at the deadline. But you gotta give this “retool” this shot. That’s what I was hoping he’d do and that’s what he did.

Obviously it comes with a lot of risk, but sitting on his hands wasn’t going to work either.

You know I like it. I think I was the biggest homer for getting Risto. I think I was on the bandwagon for a few months now. Now my wish came true. Imo, it was a cost well worth it. Many here thought we lacked physicality. Well, Risto is a mean hitting machine. He will be hungry to wanting to win. He never had that in Buffalo. I'll even make a bold prediction that he will be our best defenseman next season. He will even be on the + side instead of the -.

Hawks got Jones . Not sure what Columbus got in return, but apparently Jones did sign an extension. 9.5 mil for 6 years I believe.

That's exactly my point better to make this move now than wait until the deadline because if the team doesn't respond you can still blow it up at the deadline and recover some picks back. Risto will get you a first at that point but hopefully their D will be solid enough now to contend. Everyone wanted a 1 and 2RD and now they got it picks don't help them next season its time to roll the dice. Let's go Flyers!!!!!!

Off topic

Tonights number 1 pick Owen Power is the son of my manager at work

She is obviously very excited
Right on he looks like the real deal if Buffalo doesn't take them they are simply dumb.

Buchnevich traded to Blues by Rangers for Blais

I don't mind Blais as a roll player but what are the rags smoking? Buchnevich had a great year! Now that one I'd be pissed about.
