Im losing all confidence in this front office

He built some up with the Ellis deal, the Ghost deal was annoying, the Ristolainen deal is asinine.

Feels like a Clarke/Holmgren offseason now!

Forwards (13)
Giroux - 8.275
Voracek - 8.25
Hayes - 7.14
JvR - 7
Konecny - 5.5
Couturier - 4.3
Laughton - 3
Lindblom - 3
NAK - 1.075
Laczynski - .925
Farabee - .925
Frost - .863
Allison - .925

Defense (6)
Provorov - 6.75
Ellis - 6.25
Braun - 1.8
Ristolainen - 5.4
Sanheim (RFA) - 5 (read an estimate of 4.5-5.25 for 3-5 years)
York - .880

Goalie (2)
Hart (RFA) - 3.5 (read an estimate of 3-4M for 2-3 years, so 3.5 seems reasonable)
Sandstrom - .859

That puts them at 81.617M / 81.5M.

I guess it's safe to say Fletcher found the 2020-21 season unacceptable then eh?

The trade values are absurd and the Flyers will be paying for it for a long time now. Fletcher basically took apart the youth/organizational depth Hextall spent 7 years on in 3 days.

That being said, I do like the makeup of the D now?

Its going to take me a bit to absorb this.

Defense is definitely better.
The 1st rounder is tough.

I wonder if they're done

Love Risto. Obviously this is a guy that we need for size and toughness on our defense. The reason why it cost u s s fortune is because apparently another team were in on him which ended up in a bidding war. Risto is only 26, a RHD who can be playing on top line of Ellis gets injured. I just wish somehow we got Reinhart with him.

Need room for a backup goalie still. Not a ton I suppose. Can probably swing the Voracek (8.25) /Tarasenko (7.5) deal to create it and why the hell not at this point?

Fletcher did say the team would look different by next Wednesday. He definitely told the truth. This is the best top 4 defense in a long time. We may actually be able to kill a penalty or two. Safe to say he isn't dome as we still need a 7D which is usually preferred to be a veteran and 2G. The team looks better today than yesterday.

He's certainly making up for the passive year last year. Yowza.

I'm confused. I was reading over on CSN Philly about the trade details. Is Risto on his final year of a 6 year deal? No way should we give up all this for ANY player on his final year without an extension, hence the Jones situation. Can anyone provide me details.

That's correct. Last year of his deal. A lot to give up for a potential rental. Have to assume Fletcher has some idea on what an extension would take. But at the same time, I'd be hesitant to extend him until we see how he fits as a 2RD on a better team.

Agree. So this means we need more cap to free up.

Specifics aside, coming in to this offseason would you have taken..

Out:
Ghost
Hagg
Myers
Patrick
Twarynski
1st in 2021
2nd in 2022
2nd in 2023

In:
Ellis
Ristolainen

I think I would have. Would have assumed Ghost was the SEA pick and the 1st was part of the Ellis acquisition. But all told, that's not bad? Maybe a little more than I would've wanted to give up, but it's not awful? We knew they'd have to give to get. And they rebuilt half the defense. And I actually really like the additions..

No question out defense is a lot better and will benefit Hart. Really my only concern is having cap space to resign Hart, Sanheim, extend Risto, and still need a backup. We are still not done. Imo, CF doesn't make this deal unless something else is in the works.
I think either Voracek or JvR is getting dealt tonight or soon after.

I don't think he has to for this season. There's room left for 8.5M total for Hart/Sanheim. A little room for a better backup than 900k will buy would be nice though.

Next year ('22-23') is a concern. Giroux, Couturier, Braun, Ristolainen, and Farabee all up.

they won't resign Giroux, Coots could be trade bait depending how this season pans out. LetBraun go. I think we will get out cap back in order. We still have guys in the minors who should move up. Oh and lock Farabee down long term.

G will be gonzo unless he resigns for cheap and Braun for sure will be gone. They'll try to keep Couts and Farabee for sure shouldn't be a problem. Risto won't be getting anything too crazy I hope especially slotted as a 2RD. Overall you have to give to get and they fixed the D no doubt about it. I have no problem with what they did as Ellis and Risto are solid I'm excited to see Risto with a new team out of Buffalo.
