Ya. Salary dump. That’s a real bummer, but they had to move him.

I’ll miss Ghost. He was the most exciting player they had when he was going well.
We got fleeced

So, the $4.5 saved on Ghost allows us to get a 2RD and 2G. Pretty surprised we got a 2nd when no one claimed him last year. Also opens a spot for York and Hagg to be 7D.

Weird offseason to be sure. Definitely would've expected the Flyers to at least be able to move him at full cap hit, without having to much. A 2nd is a big sweetener.

Huge sweetener and a 7th is just salt to the wound

I'm OK with it, mostly because the Flyers prospect pool is loaded with "2nd round type" guys. The 4.5M gives them room to address the defense in a different way.

It sucks. But imagine what some of the other teams are going through trying to move cap space that's spent on lesser players than Ghost. What the heck is Tampa going to do?

Safe to say Fletcher better do something productive with that cap space. If he tries to pull another Gustafsson, he should be run out of town!

That's a pretty big ouch of a salary dump, but at least we don't have a Jeff Skinner making $9 million and having scored 14 points last season. It could be much worse and if anything, this should tell us that Fletcher is serious about making us a contender asap. No fooling around here.

I thought Ghost actually would've been a more attractive option, especially to a small market team that doesn't want to shell out much money. His cap hit is $4.5 million, but he actually only makes $3.25 million.

LOL!! That is truly ridiculous...

And we're talking about the value (or lack thereof) of a defenseman that once scored 65 points in a single season in this league. How many defenseman have done that in the last 20 years!? It's a pretty short list, really.

Wonder what it takes to get someone to take JvR ?
Funny you mention him. 65 points tops JvR's best season...Lol

Tough to say though. JvR is coming off a solid season. He's overpaid, but not by a lot. Someone might actually give us a pick for him, but nothing high...Lol
