I gotta say, Fletcher has done exactly what I wanted him to do so far. So I certainly can’t complain.

Now hopefully he doesn’t sweeten the pot and the Kraken don’t over think it and take someone other than JvR, Voracek, or Ghost.
I just saw 4 mock Kraken drafts and 2 had them taking Ghost and the other two JVR

Based on the list, it seems like there are more top 6 forwards available than I expected. My expectation is Ghost is the choice now.

Will be interested to read some breakdowns later today and tomorrow. A lot more teams protected 4 dmen than I thought would, leaving a lot more forwards exposed.

Agree it will be Ghost if there are no other shenanigans. Too much to ask to package up JvR somehow

Ellis being the 1RD fix helps here. Hamilton would’ve probably been 2M more on the cap, almost offsets the difference between Ghost and Jake. And York is an obvious replacement for Ghost in the lineup.

So I think they’re in pretty good shape here. Jake/JvR would free up a little more space to do stuff, but Ghost’s cap hit would help too.

Somebody should be talking to Landeskog, Killorn, Gourd and Josh Bailey. Would love to have any of them.

Some major names out there for Seattle. They’re going to be really good next year.
Just curious what everyone on this board thinks, but should every team have the option to amnesty their roster and enter the expansion draft?

Obviously there would have to be a limit on the number of teams that do this each season and a team would have to wait at least 5 years to do it again, but I would imagine a number of teams would be interested in doing this.

Would it be good for the game?
Or take away from having to actually, you know, build a team like everybody else???

That means losing Coots, Konecny, Provorov, Hart, etc.
I think the NHL should offer teams an option to lose a 1st round pick in order to amnesty any contract on the team.
That might make things interesting.

I like that idea.

I guess making buyouts negate any cap hit would benefit the rich teams too much.

Salary cap mostly takes care of it.
The league cannot force teams to spend money if they stay at the bottom of the cap.

But, I would have to believe that most teams would benefit from having the ability to amnesty any contract.
Also, it might be even more interesting if a team could trade their amnesty ability to another team in exchange for their first round pick or a future 1st.

If you did it this way every expansion team would suck for years and would lose lots of revenue. Gotta give the new fans something to look forward to.

I didn't really think the Avs would leave Landeskog unprotected, even unsigned. I could see him ending up in Seattle. They have the week to convince him with no other teams talking to him and he's a slam dunk if you're Seattle.

I wouldn't vote for that. It would be chaos all the time and there would be no accountability for GM's. They shouldn't be let off the hook. It's not that hard to make trades, you can remake your team if you want to. They're just pansies most of the time.

I think it would take away from the game too because I think teams would do it constantly depending on how friendly the rules are to the expansion teams. And then you really wouldn't form any attachment to any player and I think that would be less enjoyable for the fans.

What accountability did Hextall have? He gets fired and hired by another team so do they have any accountability anyway ?

I read this rumor earlier.
Seattle take Tarasenko and trades him to Philly for Jake and a 3rd and then takes Hagg. If we have to include a pick, it should be Ghost. That leaves plenty of cap space to sign 2RD (Ceci) and 2G. Frost plays 3C

This sounds too good to be true.

If Seattle want's Jake, they win with an extra pick and player. Tarasenko has had 3 shoulder surgeries since 2018. IF (notice the big if) healthy, he is the goal scorer we have craved since Gagne. We get some cap space and a possible sniper. St. Louis sounds finished with Tarasenko and they get some cap relief and keep another player they want. Almost makes too much sense.
