What really sucks is that the Rams, 49ers and Cards all have a TON of cap space for 2025.

Rams $56+ Million
49ers $65+ Million
Cards $93+ Million

Yeah but Rams (like the Seahawks) need to make a move at QB. 49ers got to pay Prudy and others, they aren’t in goood shape with a bunch of over paid declining players. Cards still building.

We don’t belong in the playoffs anyway, better draft position matters more at this point…

Im going to bet every sporthoopla buck i have on the Seahawks next week. I never win when i do that. Had the Hawks lost to the Bears and then Lost to the Rams to close out the season we would be around 13th in the draft. Right now we are 18th and Atlanta could jump over us if they make the playoffs.

Hawks will have 45 players under contract in 2025 the Rams and 49ers have 43 each and the Cards have 40 so it's not like the Hawks have a ton more under contract. What has hurt the Hawks is all the restructures they have done and its catching up to them. They have 155 million tied up in 5 players for 2025.

also ... seasons over :(

I know a lot of you want a Guard in the 2025 draft so what about Tyler Booker ( Alabama ) in the 2nd but this would have to be a early 2nd and he might go late 1st, some have him rated right there with Ratledge. Might not be there when we pick but if he isnt there, then Dylan Fairchild grades out real good and should be there for our pick in the 2nd round. These are the #2 and #3 best Guards in this draft and both should be Day one starters. Tate Ratledge ( #1 ranked Guard ) will be or should be off the board before the 2nd starts and they would have to use their 17-18th pick on him and he is graded out as a LATE 1st rounder so thats a reach for me. Trade down? Possible, snag him or Booker in that 27 range and pick up another pick?

Getting one of those guys and a solid FA not the CAST OFFS would really help the oline and you would still be adding youth to it also. I feel the QB talent isnt that great but its deep. There should be some solid choices in the 3rd on guys that have a chance to be good pro players. I think the top QB's will fall into the Boom bust category. The rest are more developmental QB's that would do best sitting at least half the season if not all.

I cut strings on Geno and Howell. Geno would cost us 38 million if on the team or 13 million in dead cap space. Sam Howell we can cut him with no hit to the cap at all. Or you can Keep Howell and pay him his 1.1 million salary. As for the QB's Im bring in the best 28 or younger Guys out there that have shown at least a spark. Darnold if he goes deep in the playoffs should get a new deal or might get franchised by the Vikings so he isnt an option.

My thoughts on the end is that you can't afford to drop a home game to the Giants and still expect to win your division without a miracle.

We won 1 game I thought we shouldn't: @SF. You can't only do that, stand pat on the others, and lose to the Giants and expect to be in the playoffs.

But it's also year 1, so that's not something I'm necessarily upset about, if additional moves going forward move us closer to greatness.

Get a couple draft classes under this regime's belt and see where we are. The o line is obviously a place of need, and would settle a lot of turbulence once a couple spots can gel.

As much as I like the guy, and moreso the idea of him at peak level, we should trade DK for as much as we can get. AJ Brown returned the #18 and #101 pick, and he's better than DK. If we can get 2 2nd Rd picks from a lesser team (so they're higher picks) take that immediately.

JSN is the future and good WRs can be had pretty easily, as seen by getting DK in the 3rd.

The future is still bright, as SF is clearly on the downturn for some of their skill positions, Kyler couldn't come in clutch if his life depended on it, and Stafford is short for the league.

If Geno doesnt throw a pick 6 at the Rams 3 yard line then thats a win. To many WAY TO MANY Redzone INT's. Like they said Geno has lead the league in Redzone INT's for 2 seasons now. Also lets be real his redzone INT's are straight up BAD. I have NEVER seen a QB SO BAD in the redzone as Geno. We all saw teams drop like 2 or 3 other Redzone INT's.

I would prefer they go after trey smith, give him whatever he wants, and take a G in round two. but thats a pipe dream.

I highly doubt they will go after Smith. They never go after the top name on the market.

I'm still baffled why they took Haynes in the 3rd round, only to have him inactive some games (when healthy) and as the 3rd string. Then I heard rumors Seattle said he's undersized... so why the fuck draft him?

Whatever, I have zero faith Seattle knows what the fuck to do in free agency or the draft when it comes to OLineman... And Cross just fell to us and was a top 10 pick, not the same.

This is really what it comes down to for me. I can't get this horrible loss out of my mind. You take care of business against the lowly Giants, and a win against the Rams in week 18 gets you the division title and a home playoff game. Bottom line is this team just wasn't good enough to do what was needed when the division was there for the taking maybe more so than any other year since we won it with a 7-9 record.

The Giants game was a series of dumb unforced errors. But let's not forget that much of our front 7 was either out or just coming from from injury. The Giants offense looked more or less competent in large part because of that. If we have the Jones/Knight defense of the past month we likely win that comfortably.

FTR, the Giants are the cautionary tale of tanking. They were a top 2 pick for most of the season. Drew Lock has his best game as a pro and now they are 4 and likely shut out of the QBs and screwed for next year.

With the season officially ending after the Rams game, it's time to think even more about the off-season. Here would be my top 3 roster moves that we could largely control:
  1. Sign Ernest Jones to a long term deal. I don't think it was an accident that the D's turnaround coincided almost perfectly with his arrival.
  2. Trade DK. Hard to imagine what would be worse: signing him to a market value contract or having him on the team as a lame duck in the final year of his current deal. I like what he brings physically, but he's not a building block player.
  3. In free agency and/or the draft, add 2 interior O-linemen. I would prefer we have 2 OL picks off the board by the end of round 3.
I didn't include as a priority because I think it's a no-brainer that we will recoup $50M of 2025 cap space by cutting the following: Tyler Lockett (17M), DreMont Jones (11.5M), Noah Fant (9M), Rayshawn Jenkins (5.4M), and Roy Robertson-Harris (6.6M). I would be open to re-working Fant's deal and keeping him around. I like AJ Barner's potential, but he might be a year away from being your top guy there.

The QB debate will probably get tons of air time again. Brady Henderson was on with Brock this morning, and both of them expect a new deal for Geno. We need a better long term answer, but that player is probably not there for us at 1.18 or wherever we end up, and free agency happens so far in front of the draft that you have to be willing to take some massive risk at the most important position on the field by going into the draft w/o a bird in hand. We saw that last off-season for reference, and that was a draft with an historic level of depth at QB. I think I am starting to agree with Brock & Brady that Geno is most likely going to be here another couple seasons.

Speaking of Geno, he's on the verge of hitting $6M in contract escalators. $2M each for matching 2022 pass yards & completion percentage, and another $2M if the team wins 10 games. As they explained it, this $6M would be added to the 2025 roster bonus that kicks in some time in early March (5th day of the league year).
