it doesnt matter who they resign or replace thats ALL money that cuts into some hypothetical cap space that they DO NOT have right now. Thats what i am saying, they cant lose 10 players and swing it from there.

Sounds like you all want then to continue signing bottom feeders.

Well... Seattle has 59 guys on their active roster already for 2025... your active roster should have 53... given we're already drafting 5 or so that will be on the active roster, yah.... Seattle HAS to cut players. And given what guys like Robertson/Dre Jones did, no problem... rookie couldn't perform much worse. As for Lockett, we know that $30M cap hit is not happening... c'mon.

You look at someone like Washington... OMG $90M in cap! Well they only have 32 players on their roster in 2025 lol. So they have to find people to bring in. Now the Pats with 55 players on the roster for 2025 and $120M... JEEBUS! Maybe they'll trade for Dak Prescott and 3 1st rounders so the Cowboys can draft Sanders :pound:

realisticaly they will need to free up around 75-90 million to get under the cap AND sign all the players they will need to sign even if they are cheap. The draft will be 10-15m then you like to have 10 million cap space for inseason trades/signings. Just to break even you would be cutting Geno and then you need to free up another 40+ Million and most likely MORE. Not saying thats where they will go just using that to actually show the actual cap hell they are in. JS hasn't done ANY favors for this franchise with the finacial troubles they will be facing. Kicking cans down the road only works so long and they have been doing it since like 2016-2017. each year even when said players are gone that hole you dug only gets deeper. You all don't seem to understand that they need to RIGHT NOW get out from under this issue. Huge drastic changes will need to be made.

Hawks only had 43 under contract a month ago for 2025 ( will need 90 for preseason ) and they then added 11 future contracts to PS quality only players that adds to that total making it 54 so they obviously picked up 5 others. But then you all are talking about cutting a half a dozen players but those players HAVE TO BE REPLACED you dont just "remove them". Out of those 59 players there is a dozen or so that didnt even take a regular season snap for the Hawks in 2024.

They have 45 players on the game day roster but 53 on their season roster, 8 players being inactive. The salary cap includes all of those players including the PS.

you are missing the point For 2025 just a month ago they ONLY HAD 43 players under contract for 2025 THATS IT. They signed 11 players to future contracts moving that number up to 54 players UNDER CONTRACT for 2025 and those 11 players are PS quality players in other words players that couldnt make the regular season roster. They picked up a few more future contracts obviously before those 11 or after them. THESE CONTRACTS COUNT against the "under contract" number bumping it up to 59 but only 43 of those guys are WORTH a roster spot. Lets not forget OF those 43 you all want to cut a half dozen or more.

I feel like im going over your heads with these numbers. I cant make it any easier for you all to try and understand the issue. Sure they will be able to work it out but there will be HUGE implications from it.

The cap situation is getting worse with every post. I fear for what I'll find when I check in tomorrow morning.

Nah, it's just reality is setting in lol.

Babs was talking about the Hawks cap situation a couple weeks ago and so i listened to it. He was able to remove 90 million in cap space but that was with DK and Geno gone, two of the big names.

LOL. Yeah it's just so complicated. Thanks for dumbing it down for the rest of us.

Look at the players leaving. Only a few of the UFAs are guys we would want to bring back and only 2 of them are likely to get contracts north of a couple million AAV.

The only RFA we need to bring back is Jobe.

Last offseason we had about 30 million in free cap but were in a much worse situation because we had so many spots to fill. This year, the team is a lot closer to being filled. We need a LG for sure. We need some backup depth on the line. We will need to get some role players on the defensive side. So we certainly don't have anywhere close to 40 million to spend on free agents. But the only starting quality position we need is LG, assuming that they think they can get Olu and one of Bradford/Haynes to step up.

They for sure will draft a couple of offensive linemen, at least one in day 1 or 2.

Sure it would be better to have more cap space but we aren't in cap hell, or even in the spot we were in last year.

Not many 3rd round or later picks are home run picks.
