In firing Grubb, Macdonald continues his willingness to make a big change without delay if he thinks something isn't right. I admire it, but of course there's a fine line between what he's done so far and being too heavy handed and making snap decisions.

Hoping the next OC is a proven NFL guy who may have a lesser risk of being hired away to a head coaching job if we are successful here. Pederson comes to mind.

I have heard Jake peetz mentioned numerous times and i don't like the idea. If he fails, its a wtf move if he succeeds then he will be gone.
A former HC feels like a better option, they would bring experience and be less likely to get hired as a head coach somewhere if they have success. Pederson is also a native of the PNW so it might be appealing to him as well.

That's why McVay went and got Phillips. Bringing in a bunch of rookies (including Harbaugh as STEAMS which almost lost Michigan against Bama) was a poor move. If that was Schneiders decision, coupled with the absolute shit job he did in FA, fairly mediocre draft picks with the RW ammo (including that boneheaded decision to take Devon), I'd be willing to can him as well.

Sadly Grubb 100% took the fall for Schneider's shit job of GM'ing recently as well.. so we're stuck with that in 2025.

This.

Another year they’ll have an excuse to not address the actual problems.

Pretty fucking dumb.

Brock brought up something that was surprising to me.

There are only 5 OCs that were in their current position in 2022. There are ZERO OCs that have been in their position longer than that, excluding Kyle Shanahan who is also the HC.

You can't worry about losing an OC. Build a system and have coaches grow within it.

Then they should have hired an OC to be HC. But they didnt, so we aren't building an offensive system here we need a plug and play offense and a former HC with OC experience and a SB under his belt would be a better choice.

You hire the best coach available. As I mentioned above, OCs don't stay long on pretty much any team.

Well who ever they bring in has to work out from the get go. Otherwise everyone could be looking for work. Forget worrying about retaining the next hire, if he's hired away to be a HC that means things went really well on offense. Jobs are on the line and not just the OC but the GM also and that means Mcdonald and staff could go also. A lot riding on this next hire. God I hope they get it right.

They stay even not as long when you shit can them after a good enough first year.

The OC seems pretty irrelevant until they address the actual problems. Going nowhere with one of the worst O-lines in the league.

Is anyone worried about losing an OC? or annoyed that they're firing OCs after one year when the clear weakness was the same old shit everyone sits through year after year and has little to nothing to do with who's calling plays?

I'm sure everyone in the Seahawks organization knows the OL needs to be addressed. I've heard it said that there are some good FA's out there this off season for IOL that could be a big upgrade for the Seahawks. If that is so, then signing a couple of them would be a good way to go.

Of course they know, will they do something about it this time, I guess is what we'll find out.

I didn't want them to fire Grubb but clearly there was a disconnect between Mac and Grubb.

do we have proof of that? its been a major problem going on 15 years and there has been zero major moves to fix it.
theres been almost no investment in the IOL (high picks and free agency) and the one good IOL we had, schneider traded him.

For sure, it has to be a big part of it, because it makes no sense at face value.
