The lakers also locked themselves out of any chance to improve the roster with long term deals for mediocre role players
It was a over correction to losing guys like Monk because you didn’t go with multi year pacts.

Of course he would love to win.

Truth is he isn’t that guy anymore.

Still an All NBA caliber player. But not able to carry a team single-handedly like he could in his prime.

That said, we may never again see a player performing at this level at age 40 with 20+ NBA seasons under his belt.

Amazing.
Totally agree, though in a sense wonder why. Can make strong case he is putting up even better numbers than he did on the Cavs team he dragged to a Finals in 2007. Tougher West I guess part of the reason but does at least have a true #2 to play with in LA.

If they managed their cap properly they could’ve been the ones landing pg13

yeah...this seems like dealing for a name and not much more...though guess could improve.
He’s a specialist.

If he isn’t cooking from 3, dude is literally USELESS.

I think he can cook with the Dubs.

All eyes will be on Steph.

He should get some clean looks.

I just dont expect there to be a huge market for him since he had a tough year-- now there was reasons for it- and I dont think Bickerstaff was a very good offensive coach....

I dont think there is a 1 for 1 type deal out there- I think anything would be for more of a pupu platter which I do not think the Cavs will have any interest in

I really think they will give Atkinson a shot to unleash Mobley and run some different things and see how he does with this group.

This group has improved every year- gotten farther every year despite some tough circumstances. Its not easy to win- it took Tatum and Brown how many years?

I think to a certain extent they are right on schedule and now have everyone of importance pretty much locked in for the next 3 seasons. I cant wait to see how it turns out.
I agree my guess is they see how the team looks with the core 4 hopefully healthy and a new coach.....can make a deal at deadline if need be.

And, yes, this will be year 3 with our best player. Cs, Denver, Philly, Bucks have been building around their best player or players since Lebron was still here and pretty sure when they were at best most of those best players were in their prime. Mitchell might be, but our other top guys are anywhere from 1-6 years away.

agree...though think he could have with Embiid and Maxey, though I guess could say they didn't use him right?

It really is.

He's a mutant genetic freak.

Embiid wasn’t on the court when he first arrived.

By the time the playoffs rolled around, they had soured on Buddy.

He suited his purpose for them. Just like Hayward in OKC, the trade was made for multiple purposes.

If it worked out, great.

If not, he’s off the books and they go big game hunting.

Both teams bagged their intended trophies.

Deal cannot be signed until 6th.

Maybe something happens between now and then to convince him to take less.

Not pen to paper just yet.
