Patriots only have three open roster spots after drafting 12 .

Patriots undrafted free agency signings

QB Malik Cunningham (Louisville): Cunningham is a true dual-threat quarterback. He threw for 9,660 yards with 70 touchdowns and ran for another 3,179 with 50 more scores during his time at Louisville. He has work to do as a passer, but provides some enticing upside. | Source

TE Johnny Lumpkin (Louisiana): After seven years at the college level — two at Hutchinson CC and five at Louisiana — Lumpkin is getting his opportunity in the NFL. The 6-foot-5, 264-pounder projects as a blocking tight end at the next level with good size but limited upside as a receiver. | Source

The more I think about this the more I feel like its just a camp presence.\

Current roster is Gisecki, Hunter and Sokol, I wish we had taken Kuntz whene he was there but hey we got a kicker.
  • Hunter Henry* (85) Starter
  • Mike Gesicki (88) Receiver only - poor blocker
  • Matt Sokol (87) 3rd team without ever logging a target in NFL
  • Scotty Washington (17) poor blocker
  • Johnny Lumpkin° (--) Blocking type who could improve enough as a receiver to keep around
I see Lumpkin showing enough in camp to bump Sokol And Washington.
Henry and Gesicki on last year of expensive contracts.
Throw them all out next year when we draft Brock Bowers

Seems we got some good pieces. Now the offense needs to go out score more. I believe O’Brien is going to cook up some good plans. Kickers were necessary, have no idea if they were picked too soon. Did other teams have them on the radar?

Edit: sorry, meant to post this in the draft thread.

Turns out that K was on a lot of teams radar.
The P was the highest rated in the draft.
If we waited on the Kicker in the 4th, we likely would have lost him in the 5th.
Punter in the 6th was about right for a punter that kiscks 50+ in college with some consistency.

That is good to know. Cheers!

We had that extra 4th thanks to the trade back with Pitt. So I am ok with it. Stephen Gostkowski was a 4th round pick. If this kid can have that type of career everyone will eat crow about this being a reach.

From what I read on Lumpkin was he was pretty much a blocking TE. If he had hand and route running skill in a small college I don't expect much in the NFL

Kickers and Punter were a need. I just wish we had grabbed Kuntz when he was there. I am not confident in anyone at TE,
