From different people it's being said that the Patriots interviewed 21 different people for the OC position. More than half supposedly said that they didn't think that they could rebuild such a mess in less than five years. Pretty much says that they didn't want to attempt that kind of challenge.
Others said that they could do it but had to have significant input into the next two/three drafts. Others just didn't fit. Like it or not, the young up and comers don't have much self-confidence or balls big enough to take on responsibility of a really tough job.

I'll accept a guy who's willing to stick his head in a noose like Foxboro.
This seems silly to I will attempt to out line my thought here.

1. Drafted O line the last two year, they should begin to meld. Would a LT be a nice pick up? Sure and may be the one piece on the line we really need.

2. Lot's of cap space I have said this multiple times. Get Evans and Ridley then draft WR talent after round 4.

3. Secure at least Duggar, Henry and if possible Onwenu.

Draft;

1. QB

2 LT

3 Edge / CB

4 TE / RB

4, CB / Edge or WR

That’s pretty sad if we did interview 20+ people for the OC position. Great…. Someone desperate enough took it. Say what you want about him… he was fired 3 times and not resigned for another.. 4 teams have given up on him. Guess I’m not too impressed with that. But what’s done is done and I hope nothing but the best for our team.

I’m guessing the Boston area must have good restaurants and that played into his decision. What a tubby tuba.

This assumes

1. That 19 people were offered the job and turned it down

2. Mayo was not doing his homework and just signed someone.

Time will tell, I think it's a decent signing, good or great only time will tell

It may be that of the 21 people interviewed, half of them were not ready to be an OC at any level. My guess is that Mayo has been around McDaniels, Patricia and O'Brien and knows what he likes and doesn't like about all of them and used that experience to eliminate a lot of the candidates. No doubt that a few, very few actually turned down a second interview because they "fear" failure. The Patriots OC job isn't a cakewalk, and my guess is that guys like Zac Robinson could see that the Patriots' offense is going to be a ball buster and would much rather get a job where most of the pieces are already in place.

Think about it.

No QBs
No TEs
No OTs

And you have to implement a completely new offense. So what do you do if you're a RB, TE or QB coach and don't have a playbook in your pocket??

One thing we know. Van Pelt uses an older West Coast Offense, designed similar to the Shanahan Offense. Here's the problems:

1. Don't have the WRs fast enough to spread the defense
2. Don't have a QB that can immediately move out of the pocket to give the WRs and extra second or two
3. Don't have the blocking TEs to help tie up the Edge rushers
4. Don't know what they have for an every down RB.

More than likely Van Pelt will be able to get most of his staff from Cleveland and that help solve some of the problems. How much input will he have about signing free agents and choosing potential starters from the draft?? At least Van Pelt has experience and connections to at least get started.

Reid has won 3 Super Bowls in the past 5 years.

He’s done it by doing something that Bill Belichick was too

Stupid to do. He’s built the offense around Patrick Mahomes.

BB continuously padded the defense and never built the offense

to be anything because he had Brady and his ability to make average

players much better.

Reid has pieced together a defense with the help Spagnulo and it’s

become formidable. All things considered, the Chiefs will win three

more Supe Bowls in the next five years and Belichick and Brady will

be forgotten.

That’s right. Six Super Bowls in ten years and Mahomes will be the GOAT.
As much as it leaves a sour taste in my mouth, Mahomes is showing that

he is more driven to win than anyone in NFL history.

Doesn't piss me off, and it won't when they start calling the Chiefs a dynasty either.
SB was a lose/lose for pats fans
KC won so another dynasty is born
If SF won would have tied pats/steelers with 6 SB wins :suds:

I guess, I know that kind of stuff means a lot to some people, and it's cool to have bragging rights, but mostly I am happy our season has now officially ended.

And after Reid there will be another "Best Ever" and after Mahommes there will be another "Best Ever.

And that "Best Ever"...Will he have Spagnolia too? Or will he do it all on his own?

Will the other "Best Ever" have a Pacheco, Kelce. Tyreek? Or will he do it all on his own?

Just curious...

Oh, and how come best ever didn't win anything in Philly? Is it all Reid or is it Mahommes?

Looks an awful lot like rebuilding.
Also looks very careful.
I’m optimistic but we need more work…..
