Been a long while since we can say this at this time of year …. Mariners are ALL ALONE ON-TOP OF THE DIVISION!!!
I actually pay for Apple TV+ (tbh not even sure why) but the Smart TV in my living room is a bit old so whenever it's on Apple TV+, I have to hook my laptop up to the TV to watch it which is a pain in the ass.Tell me about it. I will not give Apple my money so I never get to watch these.
Needless to say I was happy UW said fuck no to the PAC/Apple TV deal and jumped ship.
That's actually a good question and you could be right. Is that a Mariners' decision? I think it's dictated by MLB. Awful, either way, but I don't think it's their fault...
Missing out on those early season wins could have had this built up by 5 or 6 games but it is what it is. 7 games with Texas the final 2 weeks and Houston mixed in there. Going to be a wild September.Think about this one, 10 games ago we were 9 games back in the division! It’s a marathon not a sprint! We play Texas a bunch closing out the season so it would be nice to get several games up on them if possible going into that stretch, BUT hey, still lots of games left, 1 game at a time…
Kind of surprised Texas is that low. I get they're in a slump but still only a game back.
What I found when looking at Munoz..The concept that we will be OK not having even 1 guy in the pen you feel decent about in pressure closing situations because you can throw a starter out there seems very weird to me.
You can't do that in multiple games across several rounds of the playoffs and we've seen the strategy fail in the past as it is.
Not having a closer going into the playoffs is a serious problem. It's a glaring hole that has already cost them games against lesser teams than they will see in the postseason.
They have 33 games left to sort out the back of that pen. I'm not holding my breath that they can build a playoff ready 8th and 9th setup with what they have in that time.
Look, most of us were nervous as it was when Sewald came out in a 1 run game. He wasn't a top 5 kind of closer. Yet he was well ahead of anything we have left.
Can they make the playoffs as is? Of course. Teams get in every year with some kind of glaring hole. Their chances of not having it trip them up as the rounds go on gets more daunting. That's just how I see it.
