To be fair, guys that play today are typically considered top 5 of all time by people that didn't see the former greats play. It's only with more context that players get their deserved level of respect, if that's even possible given the changes in the modern NBA and athletics in general.

Nah.

Aside from LeBron who has clearly earned it?

Nobody else getting that love.

Steph, KD, Giannis and now maybe Jokic are all time great level players.

I don’t see anyone trying to claim them as top 10, let alone top 5.

Pretty sure a couple Warriors fans have argued Steph is possibly top 10.

Actually, I really like this vision of the new look Wolves. Dame Ant and Gobert locking down the paint, screener and dunker off of pick and roll. I like the idea of two combo guards like Dame and Ant together. They may be out classed for perimeter defense but that’s what Gobert is for around the rim to erase mistakes and blow bys.
The chance that Edwards becomes a good defender are not gone yet, I remain hopeful. Add in Jaden McDaniels locking down some of the Perimeter and Wolves have at worst a league average defense with that group, and unlimited potential on Offense.

I don't see Portland taking this, but I sure would love it.

And if Giannis keeps it up.....him too.

Point is, insert KD or Giannis into the 80s and they would be the best player in the league.

If anything, the all time great love works the other way. Players from prior generations get an extra boost compared to current players.

FIFY, minus your fixation on interspecies mingling.
It is not a fixation, I am bringing the politics forum to the NBA.

Step 1: Make Claim
Step 2: Label anyone who disagrees with you as something horrific
Step 3: Bask in victory

If Jokic plays at this level for another 5 years or more?

They won't, because they just re-committed (or re-confirmed) that they are building around Dame, not building with Dame as a trade asset.

They didn't exist in the 80's. They are products of the modern generation. That's like saying the British could've won the American Revolution if they had tanks and drones.

You’d need gs to take either nurkic or Simon’s basically
So, they would be embracing the David Kahn vision that got Curry to the Dubs in the first place?

CP3, Curry, Simons, Klay with Wiggins at the 5.

Nurk and Looney of the bench as backup 4 and 5.

Actually, The Mitten is their backup 5.

So, Looney off the bench and Nurk DNP-fucking trash?

Make it happen.

:cheer2:

Before drafting and trading for 3 bigs, Dallas would have been a good spot for Nurk.

He isn’t what he was 2 years ago.

But, he isn’t washed.

Id take him for Mook…lol

I was just about to say this.

Those athletes didn’t have the same access to more modern medicine, training.

Do I think a little creatine would turn Bird into having Pat Coughnington hops?

No.

But, modern medicine might have helped with his back.

FFS, wanna know how far health care has come?

Magic should be dead.

Aids is like Cancer now.

It’s no longer a death sentence and you can live a semi normal, long ass life, even if you aren’t rich.

If they can do that, making Bird’s back hold up a few more years is certainly possible.
