The biggest reason Bam has yet to win a DPOY award is because there are better defenders out there, not the national tv schedule, lol.

Memphis only had 18 national tv games last year when JJJ won it
Because JJJ do things people can easily find in a box score (blocked shots per game) so it doesn't require actually watching games. Nothing Bam does great on defense can be found in your basic stats. It requires you to actually watch the games but last year wasn't my beef. It was actually 2 years ago

National TV games are only of importance if you don't want to pay for league pass and you live in an out of market area.

ESPN and NBA tv and terrible.

Yep. It’s not nationally televised games. We’ve all talked about the holes in the DPOTY award. For the longest time, it was a Big Man only award. They valued shot blocking with that award above all things. They don’t value on the ball defenders the way they should. They don’t value switchability which people who understand the game put immense value on. The flaws here are all about the nature of the award, not because of nationally televised games.

The Clippers expiring deals don’t actually make the Sixers better. They don’t need to be in a hurry to do this. The best case scenario right now is for a team (like the Bulls) to realize that shit ain’t working and then they make a deal for Harris and Harden with $75 million dollars worth of expiring contracts. That may not come until December or later.

If you were willing to let him walk for nothing, they absolutely do

That’s My point

Also good for the casuals who pay attention more in the playoffs. It's good to get other likely playoffs teams their share of national tv games

Because the opt in was never even a consideration from the Sixers. It was a surprise on their end. The choice was let Harden walk or commit to him for another 2-3 seasons at a big number. The ultimate value they have right now is the cap space and the flexibility that gives them.

Additionally, with Embiid Maxey and Harris in 2022, the Sixers were a 3-4 seed in the East w/o Ben Simmons before they made the Harden deal. They’re down Curry, Danny Green, and Drummond from that group but they have better two way talent around the team now then they did before.

Casuals want to see the best games available. And yes, the Heat made the Finals are a great team to watch, but there are other teams that are making more noise out there.

Yeah I can see any given game so I could care less if it is televised. Good to see the Cavs on ESPN every now and again but I prefer their home announcers tbh.
If I turn on other games and listen to announcers it's a hit or miss. I would rather listen to Lakers broadcasters when watching a LA game, for example.

Nah, the problem is that regardless of what the league does, teams still openly tank.

I disagree. Teams tank in every sport. NFL teams tank for quarterbacks (they tanked for Lawrence and there's already talk of teams tanking for Caleb Williams). In MLB, teams that underachieved are starting to unload contracts...

The NBA's issue is they draw attention to it with the convoluted way they try to stop it. While the lottery can be fun, it's also another aspect of the league that causes people to claim it's rigged.

Who made an agreement for the opt in and trade? Neither the Sixers nor Morey agreed to that. The Sixers made no contract offer and FA started and he had nowhere to go. He opted in because that was the only way he was getting paid 35.6 million and then he immediately demanded a trade after opting in. There was no agreement. The Harden opt in created problems with their off season. Harden opting in left no money for Shake Milton to be brought back. Harden opting in made the BBall Paul Reed situation more complicated. They lost the opportunity to drive his market and sign him before Utah went and blew up his salary. The Sixers didn’t ask for any of this. Everything I’ve read is that the Sixers wanted to part ways with Harden before Harden said he was done with the Sixers.

Did the Sixers somehow not know that he had a player option?

Did they think he wouldn't opt in?

Did they somehow not know that he had trade kicker?

Or did they know all of that and trade for him anyway?
