That would be a good start. Especially if they follow up as you suggested. It would be nice if they got 1 superstar to pair with him. But we also just saw a team with 1 bona fide superstar an emerging star and a bunch of really good players win a title.

Imo, the Blazers need to either commit to Dame or move Dame and commit to rebuilding. Like @bksballer89 said...Dame has said he's not into playing with guys who are 2 or 3 years away...but I think he needs to be even more forceful and do like Kobe did a couple of seasons after Shaq left...just come out and say...get me guys who can win right now or trade me.

He's extension eligible and has a player option for 24/25. Hopefully his front office is well aware.

From what I recall, they've never really taken the "big swing". They've never really gone after another superstar or 2 to pair with him. Some of that is on Dame because he's never really demanded it...but mostly it's on the team for not looking at what they had with him and doing everything in their power to put a contending roster around him.

The Lakers have rightfully been roasted for bringing in Westbrook. But, we can at least say that, as misguided as it was, it was a "big swing".

They committed to the wrong one in cj and then never solved their forward issues after LMA left

They also rarely pay the tax

earth shattering

like when OJ Simpson was interviewed in the pregame and said "in order for the Buffalo Bills to beat the New York Jets, they are going to have to score more points".

Apparently, it would be earth shattering to the Blazers since they haven't committed to either. lol

So, not only is Portland not giving up Dame, they want Miami to surrender Bam?

Maybe $20. You'll see.

Dan Patrick was talking about this. He's suggesting that Poole's contract could cost them Draymond. He said that the Warriors have a $146 million tied up in Steph, Klay, Poole and Wiggins. Bringing back Dray for $20 million wouldn't seem to leave them much for depth.

Trying to land guys of Bam‘s ilk sounds like a pretty solid commitment to Dame.

What do you think about #3 and Simons to Toronto for #13, Anunoby and Trent Jr (opting in on his PO) as a first move? Does Portland need more back? More defense, spacing and experience for Portland at the wings, would still have 2 1sts this year to potentially trade in other deals. Re-sign Grant, use those two firsts (via Knicks and Raptors) to improve around this core.

I don't think "superstar" needs to be the target. Aiming just a bit below that and having more players at that level could rocket this team right back into the mix.
Sounds like Pascal is more gettable than OG.

Someone mentioned Trent in another post.

Didnt Portland trade him there to avoid paying him?

If they're not willing to give up the #3 to get him, it makes it seem like they aren't serious.

They've got 11 players under contract (if DiVincenzo opts in) for a total of $182M. There is no flexibility, they're over the second apron with or without Dray's contract. Even without DiV, the cap hold for their 1st rounder puts them over the second apron.

That's why there's a lot of talk about trading Poole. But $20 is less than the $27 he'd have gotten opting in. Lotta ?s this off-season

Sounds like the Blazers aren’t taking broken Tyler Hero and trash for Dame.

So, where does that leave everyone?
It depends on what Portland wants. Some teams want proven players while others want expiring contracts/future draft picks. What i do know is that Miami is not breaking up a duo that made it to the finals 2 of their 4 years together and was a missed shot away last season from 3 appearances in 4 years.
