Not a great night for the Jaden Springer experience. He was 3-11 and 0-4 from 3 in 26 minutes. 11 points 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Meh result for summer league for a guy I want in the rotation. At the same time, he’s counted on to be The Dude in summer league and in G League. But he’s a complimentary piece if he plays a role for the Sixers next year. He looked solid defensively which may give him more run with Nurse. Overall though, wanted more from him.
1 game....give him the entire SL before judging him.

The Philly deal would be better because Maxey is much cheaper than Garland so the Maxey deal comes with 39 million of expiring contract in Tobias Harris. The problem is that Dame doesn’t want to play in Philly.

I think Dame would come around to playing in Philly.

Yeah, it's interesting. Shit teams probably aren't going to offer much because they know Dame won't want to be there and contenders can't give up a lot or they risk losing too much of what makes them contenders.

Gonna be awkward as fuck if this turns into a KD wanting out of Brooklyn situation.
This is going to be a really messy divorce....LOL.

Of course. And there was his time in the G League as well. His pathway to the floor in the NBA is his three point shooting. He was 24% his first year in the G League and 32% last year. He’s improving but at 4-5 percentage points below the league average he isn’t getting in the rotation. He needs to show the organization that he can hit his fair share of 3s and get to 35-36%.

Maybe. Maybe not. It’s pretty risky. If they close on a Dame deal tomorrow maybe that changed Harden’s mind and he wants to stay in Philly. Maybe it’s Harden’s presence that has Dame saying no to Philly. Or maybe he doesn’t want to play with Embiid. Philly’s only chance is for Portland to drag this thing out and then to have Morey relent on including Maxey.

At this point, I would be fine with doing the Harden deal to the Clippers as long as they reunite Powell with Nurse and pick up two wings like RoCo and Batum.

PG Maxey Pat Bev
SG Powell Melton Springer
SF Batum RoCo House
PF Harris Tucker
C Embiid BBall Paul

Then next season they get $65 million of cap relief when Harris, Batum, RoCo, Pat Bev and Furkan Korkmaz comes off the books. That gives them roughly 30-35 million to sign 2 players and then redo Maxey after.

Embiid and Dame would be a sick 1-2 punch.
Outside of assessing the basketball fit, it’s clear that Embiid needs a running mate who has that killer in him. If we sit around and wait for Embiid to become that guy, it may never happen. There are fewer and fewer guys in the league that have that dog in them and can go ham when the lights are bright and playoff pressure is on them. Dame is one of those dudes. That’s why Dame is the guy.

Not happening though.

What other team is a possibility if Portland does not trade him to Miami?

According to the leaks from what I assume is Dame’s agent, the Nets are the back up plan.

I really wanna see fireworks after Dame gets dealt to a team he doesn't wanna go to....he say he will sit out and the new team try and figure out where to trade him for pennies on the dollar...LOL.

Boston Celtics.

Jalen Brown was supposed to have signed his Max $295M - 5 year extension, this past Friday, July 1.

It's the 4th of July and Brown won't speak with the media and Brad Stevens says he's very busy cleaning up the roster and getting a team ready for the Summer League in Vegas.

Rumor in Boston is that Portland will take Brown for Lillard. BUT, Big But, Brown has to agree to sign his extension with Portland before the deal can be done.

Can or will any other team offer Portland a 24 year old All-Star, 2nd Team All-NBA player????

Stay tuned......................

If they can get a pick out of that Clippers deal, they may be able to turn Tobias Harris expiring plus 2 first round picks into Lavine. Bulls are hard to read. I thought they were blowing it up but they resigned Vucevic. And yet there’s been rumors out there since that Lavine could be had. Lavine > Harris but Lavine has 4 years left at 40 million and Harris is just one more year. That relegates Powell to being a super 6th man candidate with their top 7 having 4 guards (Maxey, Lavine, Melton, Powell). I could see the Sixers running a ton of 3 guard lineups w/ Embiid/ Tucker, Embiid/Batum, Embiid/BBall Paul around it. I hope Nurse is more creative than Doc in understanding that he can do that stuff with a Big like Embiid providing rim protection.

Think the Bulls are trying to run it back with their FA moves.

I read last night that Tatum is trying to recruit Dame to the Celtics so that would be an answer to both the Blazers wishes for something quality coming back and Dame’s wish to go to a contender.

Embiid isn’t stopping Shaq.

But…

If you think Shaq is the best player in the league today, joke is on you.

Rules have changed and the game is changed to greatly devalue Shaq’s skill set.

You can’t just throw it to a big in the low post and watch him work anymore.

All the best bigs today have multiple offensive skill sets.

Shaq would be good today. But there is a reason bugs who can’t score from the perimeter and struggle to defend pick and roll have been devalued.

That is Shaq.

He would still be good for sure. But nowhere near the best player.
I don’t see how saying Shaq in his Orlando days and the early 2000s would be the best player in the game today seem absurd to you. Would you rank him top 10 at least? Lol

He doesn’t need to score in the perimeter, he’ll do just fine in the paint. If he’s triple teamed, he’ll pass it to the open guy.
You see how everybody and their mama became a shooter in today’s NBA because of Steph? Well, everyone would try to get another big man specifically just to foul Shaq. You know, exactly like it happened back in the day.

As for the pick and roll, every center in the league gets run around by guards. All of them.
