Even if Olidipo had two working legs, Can’t see him nor Mills as more than locker room guys.

I want them to get Capela from the Hawks.
I don’t think Oladipo ever suits up, I think he is out for the whole year anyway. Mills is definitely a locker room guy and I bet he would like playing with these guys. Always have to think Presti is up to something though.

You think OKC keeps them?
No.

I think they are going to make a trade.

Mills can be flipped.

Dipo probably waived.

They still have too many guards after signing Micic and drafting Cason Wallace.

Gotta think SGA, Giddey and Micic will get the bulk of the minutes.

Still leaves Joe, Wiggins, Mann, Waters, Wallace fighting for scraps.

Don’t forget Dort is a SG/SF.

He will definitely be splitting time with Santa Clara J Williams.

Nice problems to have.

I just hope they flip someone not named J Dub for a true starting 5.

I believe Waters is unrestricted now

Optics?

My Guy….

Top free agents aren’t signing in Portland.

Giving Dame away won’t make a difference.

They can only build through trades and the draft.

Dame is their one big chip.

You don’t give him away for pesos on the dollar because of optics.

He signed a contract.

He no longer wishes to honor the contract.

They are willing to move him.

But, on their terms not his.

This is Kevin Garnett to the Celtics.

Kawhi to Toronto.

Neither of those Dudes went where they wanted.

I didn't say they could get top FA's. But they don't have to approach things that way. Also, in the future, they will likely have players that they would like to keep (including one they just drafted).

And where did I say they should give him away?

Like it or not, optics are part of the deal and players agents have long memories.

I'm not suggesting they should do all the work or that they should take less than the best offer they can get. Just that they should be willing to work with the Heat to see if they can get the best offer possible for themselves and accommodate Dame at the same time.

If they can't, they can't...but at least they'd be able to say they tried. As a small market team, they can't afford to let things get contentious with Dame or the Heat.

They could sign Christian Wood and play him at C. 1 year prove it deal so he can get paid next offseason when more teams have cap space.

FVV
Leonard
Lowry

Probably more.

All left and the Raps got nothing back for them.
Got a ring from Kawhi
Did a sign and trade for Lowry
FVV for a bunch of cap space in hindsight should have dealt him at the deadline but they went for a run in the play in, plus no one expected someone to throw 43 million a season at him

Do you just say stuff?

Go make a shitty steak

I would bet they are definitely trying. So far the things they have said had to be said for the base.

Dame been in Portland for 11 years. What have they done to surround him with any real talent?

All they did was lose key free agents from Wes Matthews to LA to Batum

Had a chance to trade the 3rd pick this year to show him they are serious about going for it and they dropped the ball
…….and he had input on every move.

This is blaming Pelinka for the Westbrook trade when Bron has his fingerprints all over it.

Portland did not do a good job.

That is not in question.

But, Lillard was all in.

They even paid his trash ass cousin for a few seasons.

But I don’t get this idea that the Blazers never tried to help build a winner around him. The Blazers have always wanted to do right by Lillard. They gave him input on every decision except the draft. Not a move was made by the Blazers that wasn’t endorsed by Lillard. He was on board with free-agent decisions (Evan Turner, Ben McLemore, Gary Payton II), with trades (Jusuf Nurkić, Rodney Hood, Enes Kanter, Norman Powell, Robert Covington, Jerami Grant) and he agreed the team should welcome Melo. And for two seasons, Portland even went as far as to use a roster spot for his cousin.

I expect they are, but publicly at least, their demands don't seem realistic.

Optics like when Durant requested yet another trade and Brooklyn said, nah…not for that trash and ended up with Mikal?

Because, that wasn’t the offer during the Summer.

They tried to give them Ayton and trash.

The Blazers don’t have to do anything that doesn’t benefit them.

They have offense.

They need more rim protection than Chet.

But, yeah….

I like Wood and the pickings are slim.

What are their demands?

Maybe I missed something.

All I have seen is they don’t want Herro and that shitty Duncan Robinson contract for a top 75 player.

…..and I don’t blame them.

They really should engage the Hawks for Capella....they could offer a few picks and players and get a legit C.

I don’t think the Portland fans are upset.

Maybe the fans of Miami’s direct competitors.

It's not really Dame hate or even Blazers hate...it's more questioning how both sides are handling this.

If memory serves, both KG and Minny were pretty clear. KG was willing to play out his career in Minny and Minny basically said "We're starting our rebuild and we're going to get you to a team that gives you a chance to get a ring"...then they did just that.

Dame and the Blazers have been doing this weird public dance where they commit to each other then turn around and say things that indicate they aren't committed to each other. That's more what's been questioned.
