RyJo's buyout would've been far less painful here. Why didn't they just offer to eat half of Duchene? Unless they did and people balked at the extra year despite Duchene clearly being the better player?

Those are some pretty terrible cap hits in 24-25 and 25-26 when they're probably expecting to be in playoff mode.
