One of you said that at least four teams would take a QB before the Patriots would select. From what I've seen on TV, heard on the radio and read online, it looks like there are seven teams looking to fix their QB position. If the crap out there is true, then Aaron Rogers, Derek Carr and possibly others will help alleviate the shortage. I heard a crazy rumor that I refused to post that BB might hang Mac out there to see if there would be a taker so he could go get JG. Assuming that Three of these teams get a QB in a trade, then there will be a new order in the draft.
Let's say that the Jets get Rogers and give up the first round pick. How would that affect the Patriots? If the Texans, Colts, Panthers and Titans all take a QB, How many teams around those picks are looking for an OT? Maybe 2? Possibly 3?

All things being equal, BB just might have a stud OT drop into his lap and not have to do anything. Free Agency and trades are goinbg to really rattle the selection process for this draft.

Day 2 is going to be a barn burner.

It doesn’t matter that 7 teams want a QB. There are only 3 worthy of early 1st round picks. Just 3. Teams won’t reach for a 3rd or 4th round projected QB with a top 10 pick. And if Rodgers.. Carr or JimmyG go to any of these 7 Teams that means they won’t be going QB and will be going OT or another need.

I'll say this. If Anthony Richardson does in round 1, it will show just how desperate teams are for a QB

I haven’t seen much of him. Certainly isn’t 1st round worthy. Stroud….Young and Levis(I’ve never seen a game of his)
Those are the three I feel are first round worthy

Some also feel Hooker is late 1st round worthy.

A team not desperate for a QB might invest a late round pick in Hooker

Bills getting tired of Allen?
Dolphins tired of Tua?
Jets being Jets?
Jets may need to take a QB there really is no one there, Tua should be done that may be a medical call

This is you NOT posting a rumor? Then how'd it get into this post?
I know what he is refering to but
1) it's not a rumor - it's old news
2) he did not post it?
3) I wasted time verifying what he was talking about
4) Ken is too smart for us and loves to post stuff that we read last week!

Todd McShay came out with his annual mock yesterday and he says that the Patriots will Take Joey Porter CB Penn State.

He also has four QBs taken in the first nine picks.

I think McShay is screwing the pooch on this mock.
He will get a few position picks correct but the names will be changed after further evaluation.
Making a 1st round mock before the combine is an excercize in futility - or an attempt to keep your job?

I could get behind this (mock) pick from Draft Wire

12. New England Patriots (from CLE via HOU)* | Ohio State OT Paris Johnson Jr.

The Pats need an offensive tackle in a bad way, but they’re currently sitting behind the division-rival Jets, who also need one. In return for a fourth-round pick, New England jumps up two spots to snatch Johnson off the board before New York gets the chance.

I like it.
I'm not sure a trade down wouldn't be able to net them both Dawand Jones and Darnell Washington for a 1-2.

Or Dawand Jones and Steve Avila.

Dawand Jones is basically, Trent Brown. He has limited movement capability but could likely improve by losing 30+ pounds.
If the trade up 2 spots does not happen, most "experts" expect the Jets to take an LT. If they take Paris, I'd want Darnell Wright.
I do not want Skoronski. I thin k Skoronski will end up as a very good guard.
Darnell Washington might be out of reach for us in 2nd round. Would sure like him though!

SCOUTING REPORT: STRENGTHS
Displays good awareness when it comes to reading moving bodies, effectively reacting, and adjusting. Jones also shows a good feel for combo blocks.
Huge offensive tackle - a true mountain of a man at 6-8 and 375 lbs - with a huge 7-5 wingspan. He's pretty close to being in the 100th percentile in all the measurables relative to the NFL combine
Utterly devastating in the run game - has the power blow through lineman creating wide running lanes
Jones plays with a good, wide base in pass protection, allowing him to easily hold up against the bull rush
It's almost comical to watch him deal with smaller blitzing linebackers - we heard one scout remarking that "it's like watching Hulk Hogan Vs Rocky"
He’s at his best fighting in a phone booth as a run blocker, where his sheer size and strength, combined with his natural knee bend and leverage, can take over.
In pass protection has the powerful long arms required for a pro left tackle combined with surprising lateral quickness to stay with speed rushers on the edge
Hands are like clubs - has outstanding grip strength and latches on well to defenders without getting too grabby

Effective in space and usually drops his hips to get leverage and sustain against shorter defenders.
Jones does a nice job working with teammates to build the pocket, anchoring against bull rushers, and displaying good awareness against stunts and twists

I understand your point but I don't see it as being an issue from what I've read, I feel that can be minimized with his natural athleticism.

Again, I like the pick but several "experts" say he has difficulty moving. I think he is a RT and likely a goodone.
Anyway, He will not be "alligator arms" like Wynn.....

I see him projected to round two but I think he is a riser.

This from draftbuzz.com
"Jones is an outstanding pro prospect and is currently generally viewed a 2nd/3rd round prospect, however, given his potential, we consider him worthy of late first-round selection in the 2023 NFL draft."

Profootball doesn't even have him in their top 10 OTs.

Walter football also has him projected to go 2-3 round. The 9th tackle taken off the board.

Read a 4th round projection yesterday but I can't recall from who?

I honestly see him as an early 2nd and if BB and BOB have a real interest may need to move down in round one up in round two and see what happens. WIth that they could land him and TE Washginton.
