Agreed. Just average. He has gotten better since his first couple seasons. Outside of 1 game this year where he got exposed, he has been solid.

The depth behind him makes him look better though lol. Curious whats up with Norwood. That kid looked a lot better as a rookie
Agreed I think Edmonds is a lot like Dupree was. Dupree suddenly became good when Watt emerged as a dominant player. I haven't seen too much news out him him in Tennessee besides getting hurt and arrested. Great players can mask average players deficiencies when opponents have to game plan around them.

What is puzzling to me is how players take a step back after initial success. I can understand a player being a bust but what causes players to take such a step back Norwood, Claypool, Washington, Bush, Dotson etc.... I really hope Najee isn't following that trend and is truely hurt. They need him to be a workhorse as a #1 pick and take the pressure off Pickett.

I think some of the sophomore slump or whenever a player steps back is due to them putting out more film. Not always the case but for some it is. When teams understand their tendencies, strengths, presnap reads, etc. it makes any film study easier to prepare for them. Also doesn’t help the offensive players that their playcalling is predictable. Canada has like 10-15 plays in his arsenal and does little to disguise it.

THIS.... is the type of man this lockerroom needs. Beacon of light in these dark ages. I know #97 has been doin this for years, practically by himself... And we've discussed it at length many times over in here about the concern over the voice in the lockerroom. I had hoped that Najee & DJ would step up, but I haven't seen much from them, at least not to the media. I've seen more accountability from Najee than DJ, but I haven't seen motivational comments like KP's that are directed at this team.

Pickett's leadership qualities weren't discussed much at all during his scouting this offseason. It's criminal to devalue that attribute. He has a fire & a passion for this game that can't be coached. Everything from pushing himself to be the best he can be by any means possible, to raising the bar in the lockerroom and motivating those around him.

I've got a huge heteroboner for Pickett and it just keeps growing. I'm loving it too. Average dick size here I come baby!

Love seeing this. I'm still worried about terrible coaching and a weak supporting cast ruining him, but he does seem like the kind of guy that might be able to overcome Tomlin/Canada and Claypool/DJ/Harris sabotaging his chances.

I agree. I have been a Pickett fanboy for years. My boner since drafting him hasn't gone away. But I do fear this team isn't the best place for him because of its downward spiral that they just can't seem to get away from. They have the same issues every damn year, regardless of how stacked with talent they are. Our fandom has been very criticized through it all when we lambasted Tomlin throughout his 'success'. But we always knew the truths behind the accolades. The puzzling BS that we see every year.

And to stir up another shitty discussion....... This is the UMPTEENTH time that we have seen players criticize their practice methods. I think Minkah was the last to do it (last year?). Seems like every year when this team gets its dick knocked in the dirt they focus on ramping up their efforts in practice. Like clockwork its a common theme every year. Call it a perennial stumble. But why is it that this team refuses to remember this? I struggle to call it a lack of motivation from the HC, because the Steelers TC is widely regarded as the most intense in the business. So why doesn't that translate into the regular season? Does Tomlin let up out of fear of injuries? Or is it a position coaching issue? We have questioned Tomlin's ability to PREPARE this team on a weekly basis, but it gets increasingly difficult to be critical when they find a way to string together a bunch of nailbiting wins on their way to a .500 & above season.

Tomlin's primetime stats are taking a nosedive now that Ben is gone. People seem to forget that twilight Ben was still leading the league in game-winning drives. I'm glad to see that most of the fanbase is starting to recant all their hate towards Ben in his final years. He wasn't nearly as bad as everyone that threw him under the bus claimed he was. Sure his deep ball was gone, but doesn't mean he was holding this team back.

Should be the other way around... Maybe Najee should take a page out of his playbook...

Tomlin is the problem. He has no coaching tree for a reason. I think he surrounds himself with figureheads and micromanages everything. And I kind of think our drafting took a nosedive as he gained more input and say. So the depth is shit. Listen, I think he's a good dude. I think his players like him. But he's not a good coach.

Very accurate. Tomlin has an ego and/or control problem. We always suspected once Ben left that Tomlin would be shown in a completely different light unless he drastically changed the way he approached things. Pretty easy to see that he hasn't, and now the downward spiral is in full effect.

Still wouldn't surprise me to see coach Rah Rah bring this decrepit team back from the dead. But I highly doubt it with Matt Canada around.

Cowturd throwing shade at Pickett? Color me shocked. Some truths about Tomlin though.

Look for the yellow dots. Daniels is borderline elite while Dotson is above average. It was a rough start to the preseason for Daniels but this dude is coming on strong. Exactly who we thought he could be when they acquired him.

Meanwhile Mason Cole... Below. Still better than Kendrick Green ever was.

It sure would be nice to swing Jarrett Patterson from ND in this coming draft.

I've been beating the drum for years that we need an elite C. And we keep not doing that. Cole hasn't been killing us like OC has the last few years, but an elite anchor makes everyone around him better.

An elite C and probably a new OL coach would help. The grades above are for pass pro only. Run blocking is still a collective mess. Seems like the run game coordination is just terrible. Most replays show guys whiffing obvious assignments. Nobody getting to the 2nd level because of all the confusion.

We're running into stacked boxes, which doesn't help the line at all. Opposing defenses dare us to run, and we do, and we fail. It's predictable.

You can't ask a line to repeatedly do the same run, run, pass every possession and come out successful. If we rolled a dice to decide run or pass, we'd be better.

Good point. Been beating that drum as well. New OC would be priority #1 for the offseason IMO.

Cowturd throwing shade at Pickett? Color me shocked. Some truths about Tomlin though.

This guy's a clown. He's right now about Trubisky but he wasn't a few months ago when he was saying that Trubisky was a great signing and he sees big things. Now it's like he just never said that and puts the Steelers on blast for it lol.

I don't understand the Pickett shade other than his sources were wrong and he's still listening to them. Is he watching the games? If he thinks Pickett is the problem or not good enough I don't know what he's seeing. I've seen nothing discouraging about Pickett's play. I agree that Jackson, Burrow, and Watson make up a very strong QB roster for the division. I'm just expecting Pickett to belong in it.

I wouldn't call the offensive line a mess actually at this point. It's been serviceable. Not good, but not the problem.

He's right about Tomlin though.

In-Season Changes:
1. Get someone else calling the plays. Whoever is responsible for that needs to be relieved of their duties. Find someone else and give them a shot. Can't get worse.
2. Make Pickens the focal point of the passing game and the offense. Claypool needs to lose a lot of playing time to Boykin. And DJ... I don't know. I guess if Pickens falls down we can try to throw it his way.
3. More Warren Less Harris.
4. Give the reigns of the defense to Brian Flores and give him complete agency. That means no Tomlin interference.

Off-Season Changes:
1. Fire Tomlin. Rehire him, then fire him again.

Yep... He's a champion bandwagoneer on the national narratives. But he also likes to throw shade for the sake of controversy & stirring up ratings. Steelers Nation is well known to be an easy target.

Much like any pundit these days... He's constantly moving goalposts regardless of what he said a week or 2 prior.
