My guess is he was victim to this new WR system that doesn’t rotate its receivers amongst the XYZ positions. Doesn’t matter if the WRs were short guys, if he hadn’t practiced at Y or Z and only X then he wasn’t going to play unless X was short guys. Catch my drift?

Tomlin loves his reclamation projects. Even taking on the headcases like Ebron, Haskins, Charlton, etc. 1st/2nd Rd talents with lowwww floors

Alright now I'm going to be pissed if they settle on Austin. They seem to be getting more aggressive about trying to hire outside the organization. Still doesn't mean that Tomlin is wanting to let go of control on the defense.

I'm resigned that it doesn't matter. We're hiring a positional coach who just happens to also be the defensive coffee boy to Tomlin.

If LeBeau wasn't the real DC under Tomlin, no one will be. And they are absolutely not getting anyone with any pedigree.

LeBeau was DC through the 2014 season.

Its fair to say that Lebeau's defense was in decline during those last couple years. IIRC after the super bowl against the Packers it was never really the same. Maybe he had another year of prominence before it fell off a cliff but it was pretty evident that the defense needed to adapt to the newer passing league as well as revamping its personnel.
