In this specific incident, it was the most likely outcome. It's just self-evident. Did Draymond punch him? Yes.

What you're really talking about is how should players act in the future? You're right that a player shouldn't be looking to throw a punch in a normal situation. However, with certain teammates, maybe they should either punch or walk far away.

You can’t say that something that actually happened is the “most likely outcome” after it goes down.

Similar situations happen every day in NBA practices and games. Most of them don’t end in punches thrown.

That is like saying that my neighbor winning the lottery was the most likely outcome after it happened.

It wasn’t likely at all, but then she actually won.

Bad analogy because the obvious difference between a neighbor winning the lottery and Draymond is that Draymond has control of the outcome or at least a much greater control of the outcome. He had it in his mind that he would throw a punch, and so he did. That's pretty clear, right?

But in a way, you're right. We shouldn't even be talking about "most likely outcome" because what happened happened. It is a certainty that Draymond did what he did. The real question is how to apply what was learned when a similar situation arises in the future. If it's Draymond approaching a teammate like that in the future, then that teammate better get away or be ready to fight.

Even if Draymond inexplicably opted out (he won't) I'd still not put good odds on the Warriors keeping Poole. Their priority will be Wiggins. And it should be.

And the timing does not work to lock in with both Poole and Wiggins and then have Kuminga and Wiseman to worry about down the road. Not to mention what to do with Klay

If Poole is a Warrior next year I'd be stunned.

How many times have you seen Draymond get in someone’s face?

I have seen in hundreds of times.

How many times have you seen him throw a punch?

I have now seen that once. And before this week, I hadn’t seen it at all.

So no, Draymond throwing a punch was not the most likely outcome.

And I agree the teammate should be ready to defend himself.

I disagree totally that he should throw the first punch.

I'm not sure why you keep arguing about most likely outcome. Dray had it in his mind to throw a punch, and so he did. It couldn't be clearer. I would, however, agree with the proposition that Jordan Poole didn't think that it was likely that Draymond would throw a punch. And I'm saying that in the future, a teammate has a choice. Either be ready to defend yourself or walk away.

We are talking about it because of people saying Poole should have swung first. Like he should have known the punch was coming.

Of course he didn’t know.

But yeah, he should have also been ready for it.

Yup. He didn't know. But he knows now. Poole will bulk up and hire an MMA coach. LOL.

That Detroit trade for Bogdanovic looks even worse for Utah.

Ainge has done a helluva job dismantling a team that had gone to the playoffs the previous six seasons.

He kind of had to, though. They weren't going to be getting past the 2nd round as constructed and they're not a FA destination. They were the textbook definition of NBA purgatory.

So, it was continuing to be a 1st or 2nd exit for several more years or strip it down to the foundation and start over.

Plus, maybe Wembanyama or Scoot

Good point. You're right, that core of players wasn't getting to the ultimate goal.
