It was most likely going to be a shoving match, like almost every other time players get in each other’s face.

Whoever threw the first punch, it would have been wrong. And they absolutely deserve a consequence.

We don't know if Draymond is going to punch him or not. Dray didn't punch him until Poole shoved him.

What bks and Mecca said is that if someone approaches them like Dray approached Poole, they aren't waiting to find out if they're getting punched. They're taking the initiative and dealing with the consequences later.

And yes, fights are common and no one but you would care.

In this specific incident, it was the most likely outcome. It's just self-evident. Did Draymond punch him? Yes.

What you're really talking about is how should players act in the future? You're right that a player shouldn't be looking to throw a punch in a normal situation. However, with certain teammates, maybe they should either punch or walk far away.
