So it goes from "gotta be a first rounder" to "I need to dump 4.5M"? Sounds like an excuse, but not the reason.

They have almost $7M in space before hitting the luxury tax. They didn't save that much in this deal. Luxury tax may have been the difference in other offers, but not the discussions with the Lakers.

Seems like convenient revisionist history but that’s also stuff that could have been going on for some time before it was public. I don’t doubt that though. Doc is an old head. They don’t do well with the mental health stuff
