Ainge traded for Kelly O and Lee because he saw Lee as worth a flyer on a bad team and figures he can probably turn around and sell Olynyk to a playoff contender in February.
Rob Pelinka and the Lakers are in a prison of their own making.

They can't do a single deal for anyone making 15-20 mil because of all their other dumb ass moves.

They consolidated 3 reasonable deals into one albatross of untradeable fuckery....without heavy compensation.

After that, they used their last tradeable deal on Beverley and turned around and signed Shroeder.

That was fucking RETARDED if they had no intention on balancing the roster.

Like, wouldn't it have made more sense to do THT, Stanley, Nunn for Bogdanovic and then add Dennis?

Wtf is Pelinka thinking?

For arguments sake, maybe Ainge wasn't in a place to do that deal at the time.

But, what was the rush of getting Bev if they were really in talks with Shroeder all Summer?

Why not just bundle up all that shit and trade for Buddy?

Buddy and Russ/Schroeder makes more sense.

It's not great.

But, it's better than the mighty midgets rotation they have now.

Yep

THT was the one piece that made any kind of money to balance a deal. They were so caught up on Russ and getting multiple players they didn't think to work with deals as you just suggested.

Yep.

He's got heart.

But, he's 6'1 , 180 lbs, 34 years old and misses 30 games a year.

As for Nunn...

Shameful shit when the King of Load Management is cleared for 5 on 5 and you still are not.

Because of a bone bruise.

I am quite certain all of the self-made Pelinka prison crap that Mecca is correct in characterizing could have been avoided if Jeanie Buss would have accepted the Icon's offer of being her GM way back when because I know for a fact, Jerry West would not have listened to the deFacto GM James and even got close to adding Westbrook.

And Turner and Hield aren't exactly going anywhere......other teams aren't beating down their door to acquire them.

The Lakers can always revisit that.

Ummm….

No, they can’t.

There were quite a few possibilities over the summer.

Every week it seems like another goes away.

Can’t assume a Hield Turner deal will always be there.

Apparently there isn't going to be a Hield/Turner for Westbrook and picks deal anytime soon. Indiana made it quite clear they were not interested in dealing with the Lakers unless at least several Number Ones were included just for Turner alone.

Seems reasonable

Hield is probably worth a couple 2s maybe

There could be a deal, lakers just want guys for free

I am not sure that is the exact motivation for their attempts at trades, at least not consciously.
