He really didn’t. He just came to Harden’s team and mocked him in front of the rest of the team. I’ve coached and taught a ton of leaders. That’s not how you lead.
On the one hand, I hear you...

... on the other hand, we're talking grown men professional athletes here.

He was set to make 47.5 million for one year. Average value of this deal is 34.5 per year. It’s likely not even Steven though. It’s probably like 32 and 36.5 or some other mix. He walked away from about 14-15 million. But more importantly than the number he gave the Sixers exactly what they needed…flexibility to improve the roster and they have.
Showing he wants to win.

Agree but that’s two different conversations.
Harden has to handle that better than getting all up in his feelings
CP3 has to lead better and I think the trade out to OKC helped him realize that.

Nothing wrong with mocking Harden
For you and me sure. For his teammate to do it? That’s about as dumb as giving a defensive player of the year award in the B12 when everybody knows nobody in that conference can play a lick of defense.

@shopson67

I didn't think they would bring him to camp on a standard deal.

Figured it would be a 2-way.

Athletic little fella played well.

But, not sure he can survive the roster crunch.

@Gman sometimes being paid millions to play a kids game stunts your personal development and not growing up.

So what does that mean for Harden... who is not a young pup anymore, and has an extensive history of less than grown up behavior?

Hard to hope that an old dog is gonna learn new tricks.

I think by taking less shows something.

Perhaps... he didn't gain nothing, though... he gained an extra year at a still pretty high salary.

It could be that he was happy to salvage a multi-year deal at a high rate given his diminishing skills.

He could have demanded what he was eligible for and Morey damn well would have ponied up.

Man, you’re talking about this guy like he still wasn’t an All Star last year. Like he was a threat not to be signed for the 2023-24 season?

A declining player who is a both a poor teammate and who plays to pad stat's rather than win championships isn't especially attractive... to anybody.

I think a lot of contenders have visions of Russell Westbrook 2.0... and rebuilding teams aren't gonna want a Harden to mentor their pups.

Harden's got a lot to prove this year.

Philly is rebuilding?
