I wouldn’t go that far but I will say it could be a LONG time before we see him back on the court. Then we are talking working your way back to get minutes and earning a decent contract. He will never get even close to that contract. He fucked up bad. Truly a fucking idiot
After issues with the Law, Joe Mixon got to continue on with his career, OJ Mayo did not.

Well, not in the NBA

Watson got a huge bag, Rice will never play in the NFL again.

Level of forgiveness is tied directly to the level of talent.

Yep.

Bridges is done if he is found guilty.

I’m theory, yes. But I’ve yet to see him delivered healthy to the playoffs except for the bubble year where he had 5 months off before resuming the season.

That's the thing. He needs to get through the marathon regular season relatively healthy. Last season he had to play alotta minutes.

For all of you in 76ers Nations the role players gotta step up and take some of the burned off Embiid. Harden can do that, if he's committed to getting back in shape.

Embiid gambled and lost. I can’t blame the guy for wanting to win MVP. He just needs to accept that they’re never going to give it to him. That award is reserved for guys who play 4 games on national television so the writers can’t see his shit defense and lean exclusively on algorithms created by the Nate Silver’s of the world. He played way too many games to chase MVP. He needs to get back to the 60-65 games played level with load management. They hate you Jo. They’re never giving you MVP. His only shot is to win Finals MVP so he needs to take steps to make that a real possibility.

Too late. Doesn’t work that way. Market has been set. It’s why the contract to 3rd WR Christian Kirk blew up the NFL WR market. All it takes is one over pay. KD trade may not have more than 4 firsts but it will definitely have that many.

I don't see that quite as comparable. A team still has to agree to a trade. The market for each trade is a lot more volatile than slotting FA dollars

That's a big 'if'.

:heh:
It’s a fun (albeit stale) joke but dude was a staple in strip clubs when he was league MVP. The problem is what he does outside of the strip clubs. He blames hamstring rehab but over the last two summers he did next to zero work on his game. We will see if it’s true but word around the team through beat reporters is that he started his summer work earlier than at any time in his career. We’ve heard that during the Finals he was already grinding daily with Sam Cassell (who coincidently is the guy most credit with unlocking Maxey). But all of this is talk until we actually see him on the court and see if he has added anything to account for the explosion he has lost in getting to the rim.

Fair point. But that Gobert trade going down in such relative proximity to a KD trade means Nets are getting at least the number of draft picks the Jazz got for Gobert.

No doubt they get a comparable offer. Still can't believe that trade lol.

You can't say he's never gonna win one, he's still in his prime. But what hurt him the last two seasons was the amount of games missed. Availability is the best ability.

And another thing that hurt Embiid's chances is Jokic had a historic season. Along with creating a new category (2,000/1,000/500 club) he led the league in trip-dub's & I think double-double's as well. Two years ago he played every game, led the league in double-doubles & was 2nd in trip-dubs.

You mentioned load management, totally agree. There's no reason for him to play the last game of a back to backs.

I don’t even get the fit, first and foremost. Then on top of that the cost of adding a one way player that gets exposed by stretch 5s taking him away from the rim and his only plus asset every year in the playoffs?!?!? Mind boggling.

Plus Gobert is more a half court guy. Minny runs the floor like crazy.

They’re never going to give him MVP. It is what it is. Embiid shouldn’t have said it out loud but he’s not wrong. The media doesn’t like him. They hold it against him that he trolled and talked shit before he made it. The most important voices in NBA media, Lowe, Bill Simmons, etc… are married to analytics like they’re fugaze Billy Beane. He’s never winning MVP. Your games played comment is way off. He missed 4 non/Covid absence games this season. He went and fixed what they said the year before for why they didn’t give it to him. This very same media put him on 2nd team NBA two years in a row. Embiid needs to say fuck them and do what his team needs which is a healthy Embiid in the playoffs. That means more load management. He really isn’t sacrificing MVP anyway. He’s been MVP the last two years and they have refused to acknowledge it. It is what it is.

Good luck in Portland Luis Garza. Guess the front court got too crowded in Detroit this off season.

Great college player. Not a pro. The “dream” for him is playing G League for 5/6 years and maybe he becomes an 8-10 minute backup big for a middling team.
