I am all about BPA but you have to manage the draft at the same time. Like I said before why spend a RD 2 pick on a QB when the position has a high bust rate and unless Wilson goes down Ridder is never going to be our QB here because his rookie contract is going to expire while Wilson is still playing for us. Do we really want to spend time to develop a QB in Ridder in Round 2 when Wilson is probably going to be here at least another 6 years (this is the plan anyway)? So in part it feels like we are developing Ridder for someone else and if he isn't ever on the field we aren't going to be able to trade him for more then what we end up drafting him for. While I am a huge advocate for BPA there is a certain limit you also have to go by. You can't draft 3 QB's in the first 4 rounds if they are BPA.... It would be different to me if Ridder was still hanging around in Round 4 but at 62 there will be way too much value there then go the QB route given our "new" situation in Denver.

Ridder is a really weird prospect to me.. He could go way higher then 62. The QB's are very tough to judge in this draft. I understand what CEH is saying on value. Ridder is great value at 62 if he even was there but I just don't think we need to do that. Like BOH said if Ridder was still hanging around at 62 I would be looking to trade out for someone interested in grabbing him. Right now I feel like one little thing could move any QB in this draft way up and another way down... They are really jockying for position right now. Probably the weirdest QB draft ever in terms of having a good idea of where the top 5 will go.

The Broncos need starters and next man up guys - no top QB fits that bill at the end of the 2nd day - better value or not.

I can't help but see some Paxton Lynch in Ridder. His accuracy can be very wild and his footwork is really bad. He has great tools but has a long ways to go before he becomes a good NFL QB, IMO... But the tools are surely there. Just think there is way too much developing there for us to spend a 2nd round pick on the guy when he will hit free agency before we would even need him to start here. Just not worth the time and effort it take to develop a QB to do it with someone who is unlikely to be here long term.

Ojabo with the torn achilles will be interesting in this draft.

Why am I hoping the Packers take a WR I like? Is it because then I will enjoy talking about the Packers more with George if they take a WR I like?

The way for this team to have a strong number two is to acquire a vet QB that can run an Offense that is built around Russell Wilson. Using draft capital to get a rookie like that would be a waste as that pick/those picks would be better suited for building the team around Wilson, eliminating weaknesses that would hamper him. This is not the time to screw around. We have a QB now. Make use of him.
I wouldn’t say I necessarily disagree, but to suggest that signing a QB that could developed and perhaps traded as a ‘waste’ or ‘screwing around’ May be selling it short.

Most draft picks after the top 60 are more busy than boom. Developing QB could be valuable somewhere in the draft process.

OT Lucas on that list has met with the Broncos twice - the only draft guy that has had two looks so far.

Remember Surtain had never heard from the Broncos before being selected at 9th overall.

Bit of value/readily available information difference between top 10 and top 100.

Traded for what though? Certainly not the impact some other player could have had on Offense/Defense/Special Teams instead. That's the waste, and you don't do it when you have your franchise QB and you are trying to build a team around him.

I would probably disagree with the second part of this comment. I guess it depends on how big you are expecting a player to boom after 60 but I think Round 1 draft picks are valued less then ever because so often you have guys you draft later turning out better then guys you draft early. You used to see 1 or 2 first round picks traded away going into a draft.. Now the NFL is becoming more like the NBA where 1st round picks are being valued a lot less because of the amount of busts in round 1 when so often the guy you take later on may not be a "BOOM" but is giving you as much or more then the guy you take early on. That being said of course typically the BOOMS are coming at the top of the draft but with the high bust rate we are seeing a shift in draft value.

Prospects I am not exactly big one.

Drake Jackson, EDGE, USC
Cameron Thomas, EDGE, San Diego State
Kingsley Enagbare, EDGE, South Carolina
Daniel Faalele, OT, Minnesota (Not a good fit for us, IMO)
Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington (Just want to put out that I do like him in Round 2 but I don't think he should sniff round 1)
Cole Strange, OG, Chattanooga (I see people saying this guy is rising to me he is much more appealing where he was projected before which was about Round 4)

One guy I loved a few months ago that I have soured on. I still like him and hope he turn out great but Texas A&M DL DeMarvin Leal... The games I watched him he stood out but the more I watch film... He just looks like he vanishes in games and plays a little too soft for me.

Calvin Austin sure is fun to watch but the guy is sooooo small.

I also like Trey McBride to an extent. I don't like him where some have him in early Round 2, but in late Round 2 he is fine to me.

The more I watch Georgia the more Quay Walker sticks out to me as a better NFL prospect then Nakobe Dean. I love Dean but nobody should be touching him in the top 20.. Seems like he is going to end up going more where his value would be when all is said and done. My intention of this isn't to say I dislike Dean because I love Dean but it is to say how underrated Quay Walker is in this draft. Georgia DL Devonte Wyatt is also a beast.

I love Georgia S Lewis Cine too. Nebraska CB Cam Taylor-Britt is vastly underrated.

Broncos are meeting with Nebraska C Eric Jurgens. Gotta think Hackett/Outten may not think Cushenberry is fit for their scheme if they end up taking Jurgens. Solid C though. I would expect Miami to be interested in him as well with a dire need at C where he will likely go right around where they select.
