Congrats to Giroux. 1000th point tonight. He’s had a good season in Ottawa, 78 points, 1 more goal would be a career high.

That's my dude right there!! Remember, people thought this guy was done being elite about 6 seasons ago, then again 4 seasons ago and about every season since? 20 points in 18 games with Florida last season. 78 points in 81 games with Ottawa this season. Just when you start doubting him, he bounces back.

This also means two guys reached 1,000 career points on the same damn night. Pavelski did it too!!

That's pretty fucking wild...Lol

Giroux did it in 149 fewer games though by my count and he's 3 and a half years younger than "The Big Pavelski."

Wow I could remember when the thought process on this board was as soon as we trade him he is guaranteed to win a cup. Guess we could put that to rest.

This race for the wild cards in the East and the worst record in the Nhl is really bizarre tonight.

Columbus and Chicago both entered the night with 56 points, tied for the worst record in the Nhl and the best overall odds to draft #1.

Columbus gets a point with an overtime loss to us and Chicago suddenly leads what should be a desperate team in Shitsburgh 3-1 late in the 3rd period.

If this stands, the Penqueens will need the Isles to lose in regulation on home ice to Montreal tomorrow night AND then beat Columbus Thursday night to steal the final wild card spot.

Also, Chicago is potentially blowing their shot at the worst record and their final game is in Chicago Thursday night against us.

Love it!! The Pens go down 5-2 on home ice to arguably the worst team in the Nhl and Crosby has zero points and a -2. They looked completely defeated in the last few minutes of the game too. Now they will miss the playoffs unless the Isles lose in regulation tomorrow on home ice to Montreal.

Also tonight, JvR netted his 300th Nhl goal, Farabee scored and Tippett scored two beautiful goals, including the game-winner in OT. Gaudreau basically left him to "check" Provy, which let Tippett walk in alone and roof it on Hutchinson.

Could Tippett be a future 30 or even 40 goal scorer in the Nhl? I wouldn't bet against either, quite frankly. He has 26 this season and I would argue that he'll only become more consistent moving forward. This kid looks to be a star in the making.

If CBJ needed that second point in OT I would have been furious as a fan haha. Provorov basically checked the defender out of the way .

Really nice finish from Tippet though. I only watched the last little bit of the 3rd and OT.

Its funny that nobody is congratulating JVR :pound::pound::pound::pound:

Eh, 300 goals isn't that impressive haha. 219th all time. Higher than I expected though to be honest.

1001 points has Giroux at 96th all-time. Only 10 active players with more.

Well, it was in the best interest of most everyone watching for Columbus to not get that second point. I think Anaheim would've overtaken them for the top spot in the lottery via tiebreaker. For us, it's nice just to finally get another win and see our youngsters progress.

I was more surprised to see Gaudreau basically give Tippett the breakaway...Lol

If I'm not mistaken, our in-state rivals will be eliminated from playoff contention tonight if the Isles get one or two points on home ice against Montreal. They lose the tiebreakers to both Montreal and Florida, so this could be it right here. Can't wait for that!!

Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Rakell, Zucker, Rust, Carter, Letang, Petry etc. all on the same squad and they can't even make the fucking playoffs. Pathetic!!

People think we're fucked, they will have almost zero shot in the draft lottery, plus only have two picks in the first four rounds of the draft.

Man if we only were able to take Kane in that draft it would've been such an improvement over JVR and his career.

Heh. Gotta be the biggest 'what if' in the cap-era for the Flyers. If they get Kane instead of JvR and they can keep the partying even moderately in check, the Flyers probably win multiple cups in the early 2010s.

Maybe we'll get to do that to the BJs or Hawks this time around!

So, locked in to 7th worst record. Gives them a 13.4% chance at a top 2 pick (6.5% for 1st, 6.9% for 2nd).

Get your good luck totems in order!

This is the best news of the season...... And Hextall has them locked into mediocre hell just like he did to the Flyers.

Time to fire up my TV and watch some playoff Hockey !!!!!

There it is. The Pens have the longest active playoff streak in professional sports of 16 years officially come to an end, whether they win tomorrow or not.

Idk what to say except that it is a beautiful sight to see for us.

Any thoughts what we can get for Tony D at the draft. He is so deep in Tort's doghouse, I don't see him playing another shift for the Flyers (now see if he plays tonight).
