You can thank Torts for keeping this team half decent. We are playing without a full top line who would probably be only good second line on a lot of teams. I love that we are not giving up like we did last season after only a few weeks into the season. Play competitive and lose should be the strategy going forward. However if we win some games i wont be mad because i know they didn't give up.How funny is it that this team can play competitive games with some top teams and yet our roster just isn't good. Granted, our goaltending has been pretty good this season. Everything else was meh.
I think some of our youngsters are beginning to stick. That and Brendan Lemieux is providing a spark, certainly. For whatever reason, he fits right in with this group, and his numbers are solid (albeit in a small sample size). How funny is it that this team can play competitive games with some top teams and yet our roster just isn't good. He's got very strong hands too, especially around eye-level.Will Smith | Will Smith Profile | Will Smith Scouting Report 2023

Be cool if the Flyers were high enough to get Will Smith. At least seems to have game-breaking talent, as long as he can translate it to the NHL. Could make for a good 1-2 with the speed/power game of Gauthier.

James Reimer refused to wear a pride night jersey the other day and nobody even knew. Still Prov the only one to get persecuted in the media about this.
On Twitter it will be a non story after a day or two for the Reimer incident. Prov was demeaned for a couple of weeks in a row on Twitter. The national hockey people I follow on twitter were all riled up. Not sure how that translated to non-twitter coverage of it though. I guess to be fair, I don't know what the non-twitter reaction to Provorov was either. I didnt see anything on my news stuff, hockey is too niche!
Love the confidence. However, he's kind of stuck in such a crap situation. Cap is in bad shape, the team is terrible, but not terrible enough to get into a top five pick. It's a frustrating position to be in. I just hope this process isn't long term and Briere can fix the issues he was dealt with by the previous administration. Only time will tell. From the Athletic: I love this quote from Briere !
“Oh, there’s no doubt in my mind that I can do the job,” Brière said in response to that concern during his introductory news conference. “Even when I played as a player, I was always someone that studied my opponents, also studied my GMs, and what they were doing and (what) the other GMs were doing.
“Yeah, maybe I was hired officially under Chuck in the past year, but my journey has started a long, long time ago. I’ve always been someone that pays attention to what’s going on, how processes are being done, and how I could use it if one day I’d be in that position. I’m not gonna lie, it’s something that I saw myself do from early on when I was playing. I always believed that I could be in this position one day.”
