Montreal passed us in points after beating Pissburgh. We're 6th in the draft order, tied with Arizona, who has the tiebreaker and are currently playing Calgary (Flames up 1-0 in the 1st).

I didn't watch it live, but Nick Seeler pretty much scored the goal of the year for us tonight. He stick handled past two defenders and roofed it past Quick, literally all by himself. It was pretty much the shake and bake, Nhl style. Frost scored moments later to make the game interesting halfway through the 3rd. I really think our purpose now is to show we can keep every game close and then still lose late without collecting any points.

For me, nobody. I don’t think it makes sense to add a pricey free agent for a few years. Draft, develop, and burn off some years of the overpaid guys. That and sell older players that can bring back value.
The only thing that makes sense now is signing a veteran for one or two seasons for depth and then flipping them at the deadline for a pick. Even if you can't flip them, at least they can help mentor the youngsters. Or, if we have the space to take on dead cap for picks, that's an option.

I don't think guys like Farabee and Sanheim are necessarily on bad contracts yet. It's too early to say that, but they do need to improve. Either way, I don't consider them in the realm of Hayes or JvR with their overpaid deals. These are younger guys that are expected to get a lot better soon.

Lol Columbus and San Jose are playing each other tonight. The two worst teams in the Nhl. Someone HAS to win this game...Lol Who will it be!? Tied at 1 in the 1st right now.

This race for the top overall pick could get interesting late in the season if we are anywhere near the top three worst teams. We play two of them (Columbus and Chicago) in our final two games.

Update: Arizona beat Calgary in OT and we're now suddenly 5th in this tankathon, only 5 points ahead of Anaheim and 7 points ahead of Chicago.

Chicago somehow beat the 50 win Bruins 6-3. The Jackets and Sharks are tied 5-5 late in the 3rd. As expected, nobody wants to win this one...Lol

You guys should watch the game-winner in OT by Gaudreau. He and Laine had a two on nobody from center ice, passed it back and forth about six times before Laine got a shot off. It was saved, then he had time to retrieve the puck behind the net and get it back out to Gaudreau for the goal. All 3 San Jose skaters eventually made it back, but none of them hustled or went to a wide open Gaudreau (who had 5 points in the game) and the goalie (who I've never heard of) also had not yet recovered...Lol

Regardless, the two worst teams in the Nhl both get points. Maybe there's still a chance for us to complete this sudden tank job. A lot of these bottom-feeding squads are getting points lately.

I didn't see it live either, but holy hell what a move from Seeler. Best Flyer goal in a while. Kudos to Seeler.

I agree w/ you on all fronts here. Farabee for sure should bounce back. Doesn't make sense at all to deal him, they'd be selling incredibly low. Sanheim at least has more history of being better than he has been this year, so the value shouldn't have dropped like crazy. But still, I'd keep both of them next year in hopes that a bounce back will restore their value.

If this is true, it's the biggest assist of his career.

I think that headline/article are misconstruing what Friedman said a little bit. I listened to that podcast and he was just listing reasons for Fletcher's firing and one of them was related to Provorv's pride night decision, but it was more in terms of catching ownership off guard even though hockey ops knew it was coming. And he speculated that it could have been one of the reasons for his firing (along with the team missing the playoffs 4 out of 5 years; and embarking on a rebuild rather than trying to compete which was not what Fletcher was hired to do in the first place).

I think Provy could be traded simply because everyone agrees that he needs a fresh start to revive his career. If he gets paired with a top defenseman somewhere else, it's very possible that he could fit right in and have better numbers to show for it too. He's not a top defenseman, but he's also not quite paid like one either. He can definitely eat minutes in all situations though. This is not a sell high situation, it's more like things just aren't going well for him in Philly and maybe it's time for a mutual breakup, meaning we just see what we can get for him and move on.

The whole pride night situation and watching him make silly mistakes out on the ice doesn't help matters either.

Yep. I agree with you. Provorov is a pretty good top 4 guy and paid about fair for that. I think his time is just out in Philly. He seems like a guy that’s not well suited to a rebuilding team and could really help a more competitive team. And I think other teams see that too, so the return should still be very good. Just makes sense for the player and the team to make a deal, and another team will appreciate adding him. Just a win all around.

Assuming the Flyers don’t get a shit return for him haha

Actually, the Jackets had a two on none from well inside their own blue line. Idk if I've ever seen that in the history of the sport...Lol Then, they didn't even score on the first shot either. If you think we're bad, just watch San Jose play hockey. They've given up 41 more goals than us and I think our goal differential is skewed anyway because we give up so many empty-net goals.
